Funny that before the game, someone said they wanted Rakel, and the guy scored almost all the goals tonight. Kicked one in (waived off), kicked in Jack's goal, scored on the wraparound, scored one of the two shootout goals.
One of the best things of this pretty embarrassing win was that it might push the Pens into seller territory.
I could see Rakel or Rust as nice, annoying, playoff-type triggerman/netfront to move someone in our top six down... And not too pricey for the goalscoring...

That defensive play on the 3-on-1 to save a goal was one of the best defensive things I've seen by a forward not named Bratt in a long time.

We also played the whole game down our best defensive player. We needed 30 minutes from Luke and 26 from Dillon.

its the point how its decided. the nhl certainly didn't make this change thinking they are going to slow grind out victories in whats supposed to be a super exciting skill show off for an extra point. its slowly gotten worse from the first year and will continue to do so. 3on3 is pretty gimmicky but its exciting at least teams ragging the puck playing keep away willingly is even more gimmicky then the shootout imo

btw karlsson i believe that was him who tracked jack down on the overtime breakaway wow people i thought said his skating went to shit? i've never seen someone skate that fast before (if it was him)

A little under the weather so missed most of this. Very surprised by the shootout win!
For as much as I don't like it, it is pretty exciting.
And I hate it a lot less when we win it.

i hate the shootout as much as everyone else but last night was exciting partly because it went on a while usually its over in 3 rounds or less and you dont build up any excitement. you can't start with a 5 rounds but i think if the shootouts went naturally to say round 7/8 a lot more people would like it.
So another example of bad ice from that game.
Bouncing pucks is one thing, but when guys are falling all over the place that should initiate some measures to get that ice up to standards.
Is there any talk on Pitt's board regarding the ice?

It was definitely the most exciting shootout we've had in some time. Not even just because we won, but to see goals matched in each round, especially from guys like Cotter and Dougie while both goalies made some excellent saves.
Daws definitely has the swagger to be a good shootout goalie. He seems very confident in that situation.
