I don’t think there is much wrong with the OT coaching outside of some wonky stuff early in the season. The Leafs scored on their one chance, which was a f*** up but not a coaching f*** up. They had three good chances before that one of which hit the post. Luke doesn’t hit the post you aren’t complaining about the OT coaching. They had several chances vs the Panthers.

To me the difference in OT is the puck was going in before and now it isn’t. It’s small samples overall. 3v3 ot by design is a crap shoot.

The team has to get points against these humpties coming up.

If we have a bad record in the next three games I could see Columbus getting close. They never lose anymore.

Similar thing annoyed me before the break. They went 6-2-1 which yeah sure in a vacuum that's a great record but they shouldn't have lost any of those games besides Colorado.

I'm sure you were calling them a cup contender after the Rags win before break. They're still banking points while playing like shit and down a step. Why do you think this is their final form but ignore what they've done as a resume for the whole year?

Keefe said it's not tough to find positives tonight, there were lots of positives. Felt the guys played hard on the road, PP coming through, Jack and Nico potting goals.

Said the way we managed the puck at the end of OT was unacceptable and goes against what we talk about. I assume that was Timo just firing a shot over the net instead of trying to possess and circle back? And then the change of course lol

Thompson has stopped 76 of 77 over the last 3. Vezina contender making less than league min. f***ing stupid. I'm not really all that worried about the Jackets. There's still quite a lot of ground for them to cover and it seems like every time a WC team starts to pull away from the rest of the shit pack they end up falling back down to the pack.
 
NJ catching Washington at this point would be horrible bet to make. To get to 100 points Caps only have to go .473 the rest of the way, a significant downturn from how they have performed so far this season. To get the same, Devils have to go .600...which is basically maintaining their current pace for the rest of the way. If you're banking on the Caps suddenly turning into a sub .500 team for 37 games...good luck with that.

Yeah, I've been saying this. It's like they haven't played a full 60 from the goalie to the skaters this year but they're still somehow in 2nd in the division. That's the reason to hope they get better but can't just assume it happens also

I’ve held off on having any strong opinions about Mercer until recently. He has not had stretches of being actively good for a while, especially considering what his role is. If he was slotted solely as just a depth guy who can do a little bit of everything, he’d be fine, but the team is expecting more (too much?) from him and he’s not really delivering.

I think we are way overanalyzing these last 4 5 games

Staff is clearly working with an exhausted group and will be using players who have any type of gas left during a game. We have clearly seen them get tired throughout each gm until the point where they are just trying to survive in the 3rd

They will be fine once a semblance of a normalcy returns to their energy levels. Taking 7 of 10 pts is a tremendous victory in this stretch IMO. Especially after those annoying west coast gms.

The group also has a very favorable March April schedule to end the year in terms of home gms and traveling. I see a really good end to the season post tournament. I have zero worries at the moment and am looking forward to March and April. They just need to muster out a .600 points percentage from here on out to the tournament.

They are a contender for the Stanley Cup. Not even a close call, really. The people paid to make these assessments have 3 teams with better odds of winning it all than us (+900). In the entire league. And one of them is our likely 1st round opponent (+850).

Every team has flaws. Most have more than us.

It's also shit to keep losing to the leafs and being swept by them in a season series. It's a joke frankly.

Also, this team is hot ass in OT.

He had TWENTY 5v5 MINUTES. Outshot 16-3. xG 0.63-0.05. Scoring chances 9-1. High danger 3-0.

That line was horrendous. Over the last 2 games they have a 20% xG and 26% CF. They had a 86% xG and 71% CF with Tatar. I don't give a flying f*** how cooked Tatar is offensively
