I don't give a shit how bad we played we had the lead with less than 5 left. I'm not going to be ecstatic getting a point out of that. You should get 2 points out of that.

Yeah, I’d like to win a f***ing close game in regulation.

We need to start being capable of that, it will be pretty important later on.

I'll ask again...what is the cutoff for dismissing this as just as "bad stretch"?
They actually moved up 2 spots in points percentage this week

They need to get back to full strength again. Anyone who watched the full season knows there are a ton of guys skating in mud at the moment and are not close to their normal selves

He should be.

That goal by Matthews had to be saved too. Marky was great all game but he wants that one back. Great shot but there shouldn't have been space.

That last 3 minutes was trash, and that OT decision making was trash.

Would be nice if the trash can defensive pair didn't get hemmed in for a shift, not putting that goal on Markstrom when it's Matthews. If it was maybe 99% of the league, probably

January has been .500 in points, it's not ideal for sure. It's not deadly either. We know what the team's needs are and where our weaknesses are.
We have a stretch of weak ass shithole teams coming up.

Not all of them are TERRIBLE, but they're either terrible to mediocre.

No reason why we can't have a really good stretch of points out of Philly 3 times in like a week, Ottawa, Boston, Montreal. There's another humpty or meh team or two I'm already forgetting.

If we don't have a good record in that stretch than all the hyperbole about how we're gonna be sliding into wild card territory becomes not so hyperbolic anymore.

Especially since some of those teams down there don't seem to lose anymore.

They are grinding out points while sickness ravages through the team and are missing depth. For the regular season that is absolutely going to cut it.

They need to address depth at the deadline. For as much as Haula was an offensive black hole, they miss him defensively. Especially on the road good teams are able to exploit matchups. They need another center.

Yeah. Dowling is trying, but they miss Haula and they miss The Nose too.

I see zero reason to worry about this team regular season wise though. Fitz will figure out the depth for the postseason

I absolutely agree with needing to address depth, but this stretch of meh play has been going on since the break.

It's kinda ironic this team hasn't played as a unit all year. When they were humming skaters wise, Markstrom looked like ass and now it's vice versa. They need to make a trade obviously for the depth upfront but we've known this for a while

This is where Luke should have gotten off - he even waved his hand like he was going to then circled clear back to our end then goes forward to change. He had help covering the leaf up ice here and could have easily changed. Just a brain fart that ends up being costly.

I'd also like to be able to win games without needing to be the better team. Good luck in a series against the Canes if you can't win a game getting outplayed because they're going to outplay you a lot.

Defensive structure, goaltending, special teams have been good to great this season.

All season long 5v5 offense has been mediocre and they are still prone to repeated Ruffian unforced turnovers in their own zone. Even in games when 5v5 looks better, they have no snipers who can consistently take advantage when they are tilting the ice.

I think people need to temper expectations for this team this year. And it really pains me to say it because I wanted to believe they were a real contender a couple of months ago but we are 45 games into this thing now.

I mean, I will be THAT guy.

I said in October that the team will get good in December. They did.

This team will get good again once they get over whatever is plaguing the room right now via illness. They will look great in March after a good stretch starting from next weeks Boston game til the tournament. This weekend will be another grind unfortunately.

I aint worried at the moment. Dano meter at a 3.5
