Was a harsh critic of Allen over Kakkonen but ever since the TB game debacle, he's been awesome. Made 3-4 A+ saves in the third to seal that win. I'll gladly eat crow on that. Another big boy win, love how they just collapse and block stuff in front of their goalies. It burned us on the Foote goal but more often than not, it's a very good thing to do considering we can counter attack off of a shot block or something off script. Let's keep it rolling. Very winnable games before NYR on 12/2

So Columbus beats Carolina in a shootout.

So with the win tonight we moved into a virtual tie with Washington (games played is the only difference in pts%) and move to 1 game back of Carolina. Rangers playing Edmonton. An Oilers regulation win we pass the Rangers on Pts%. If Rangers win we smoke to a .5 games back.

Needless to say to top of the Metro is close going into Thanksgiving week.

Jake Allen is the #1 STAR of this game.

He had 3 GIGANTIC Saves that prevented the F**king b*tchass punk loser Capitals from getting ANY points in this DIVISIONAL game.

I am GLAD we won, especially with Ovechkin out.

It would've been infuriating to have given up the tying goal, were it not for Allen coming up huge.

Eat S--t, Caps!

Devils win.

I’m just glad we’re banking points by any means necessary against division rivals.

We may need these points in April and it’s great to already have them now.

To at least partially interrupt the good vibes, there's a mainboard thread titled ''Has John Hynes improved?'' where the OP has linked search results containing all the shit talking HF has done (many from our board) about Hynes over the last decade.

I haven't stopped laughing since I read that. The thread title wasn't as funny as much as the links to the posts about Hynes slander from the past lol.
At least with our start we don't have to have the Hynes or Brunette posts on our board this year :P

And I'm sure Hynes has improved...but also coaches don't typically get the number of chances he's gotten with meh-ish results. Not to mention he's gotten his better results on the overachieving teams not much was expected from.

The best thing about these Eastern Conference wins is that they are regulation wins. We are getting leads and holding on to them, which is something the team was terrible at under Ruff. Even 1 goal leads which should feel uncertain end up as regulation wins, which means that the team as a whole is buying in and paying attention to the details.

Additionally, we will be competing with Florida, Carolina, and Washington for position later in the year. Not giving them pity points will be very valuable going forward.

Getting bodies and sticks in lanes. Blocking shots. They got away from there game a bit in the 3rd period, but the overall body of work the team as a whole is doing in the D-zone couldn't be more night and day from Ruff

And it's clearly translating into results against top teams

Bowers-Dowling-Tatar was good too. Cotter-Haula sucks though. Bring Bowers back in and try Tatar-Haula-Mercer and Bowers-Dowling-Cotter. Tatar-Haula-Mercer should be a sick shutdown line

One more thing on the 4th line. Not sure I want Cotter playing his offside given his defensive struggles at times. Probably best to have him at LW. Again I think Halonen deserves a look. Cotter-Dowling-Halonen

Tatar played well but I don’t think he’s going to add much to a top six line. This was a weird game. The ice was awful and at least four or five NJ players fell just hitting ruts. The puck bounced strangely at times against the boards. How did that last shot not beat the game clock?
