Just for reference on November 22nd of 2023 we were 8-8-1 - 17 points

14th out of 16 in the conference, only Ottawa and Columbus behind us.
Isn't there some sort of correlation between playoff positioning at US Thanksgiving and end of season playoff positioning or at least making the playoffs?

I got all doomy after the home WSH game and the first TB game stretch, cause that felt awfully similar to last year. Especially the TB game, I broke lmao.

With that said, since the Detroit game, they’ve played some good hockey overall and it’s extremely encouraging. They’re looking like a new team. Responsible, disciplined, intelligent, structured hockey. I like it. Keefe has been so good for this group.
Then change your damn avatar already. You’re bumming everyone out and the pigs are refusing sniff out truffles so the risotto is bland.

Were those 2 games before Luke and Pesce came back? I can't remember. Maybe it was when they just came back

Assuming the devils don't completely fall apart, and the rest of the wc eastern teams don't go on a big win streak....they are in the playoffs, hard to see otherwise (outside of the above stated conditions).

A really good win in an important game against an excellent opponent. The big guns had to come though in games like this and they certainly did. The first two assist by Jack were absolutely insane. The one on Brett's goal was one of the best I've ever seen. None of the TV guys picked it up at first, it was so lightning quick. Awesome play.
Finally, I am cracking up over Dano's initial inability to realize Jack made that pass on the first goal. That whole fumbling ordeal lasted a lot longer than it should have lol.
Days later as I'm looking at that sequence again, I'm not totally convinced that was Jack's intention.

I really think he tried to deflect that shot past the Goaltender but he may have lowered his stick a bit too early which deflected off of it toward Bratt which made it look like a SENSATIONAL pass (which it was as it turned out).

That's not a knock on Jack...just an honest observation that this play was more "luck" than Jack's badass skill.

I don't blame Dano for wondering if that was deflected off the goaltender either (I thought the same thing...that Spencer made the save but provided a juicy rebound for Bratt)....

I believe so. They came back for the Detroit game I believe. I thought it would help, but probably not this much. Pesce has been solid and Luke has been playing extremely well on both ends of the ice.

Yea I went back and checked, they were out for those 2 games. I don't think it's the impact of Luke and Pesce necessarily (even though they have been excellent). More so them coming back allowed the pairings to be more evened out in terms of minutes and have a pairing that could be relied on instead of dumping it all onto Dillon-Hamilton when Siegs-Kovacevic pairing needed a rest.

I still think that Dillon-Hamilton pairing is going to be a huge issue going forward =/

Luke has been a revelation defensively this year. Completely different player.

And he’s been able to drink for 2 months! Dunno if he’ll ever make the same leap his brothers did a few years into the NHL, but the sky really is the limit.

That’s the “Things are happening!” pairing, and they’re above water overall. That’s honestly totally fine by me.

The post count was also 5-2 or 5-3 NJ, NJ could of had a big goal total

Right now, 22 games in, basically the first quarter, we're on track for 104 points.

December and January always seem to be the "make or break" months, but we are in a great position heading towards thanksgiving.
More importantly, this was by far their biggest test. A condensed two month schedule with little practice or rest against some stiff competition, all with a new coach.

Rest of the schedule should be much better, especially April. 6 of 7 at home, with one one travel day to Boston.

This team can really start piling the points going forward.
