This is the pt, BUT you fail to admit that happens b'c Rs give suitor full opportunity to talk + negotiate w/him first
by reason of the above, I AM BACKING IT UP
You are doing nothing to back up the exorbitant value you are placing on a discussion. There are no trade talks with anyone without that discussion. End of story. This is not giving Shesty more value. It gives him less value because he isn’t going anywhere he doesn’t want to, reducing the number of teams who can make a pitch at all. Add this to his MNTC he’s picking a new home not the Rangers. This negotiation you think has value has none. It’s the qualifier to even be in the very limited number of teams to be a trading partner. It has some value, not much. Just enough value that teams need to beat out a rental price by about a 3rd round pick in a package of futures. If you want a player back it has zero value at all.

If you have ANY evidence to the contrary I’d love to see your examples. So far you have provided nothing.

1. It is not exorbitant overall in that it is basically an elite for an elite
MacK worth more? Another elite worth less? Fine, all worth a discussion in good faith.

2. He DOES have a very limited # of teams that can be a fit due to cap, etc.
HOWEV
Rs only need 1 suitor to be a fit.

3. Rs are not charging any suitor for being given permission, but it is an indispensably valuable consideration all the same. Whether or not a selling team asks a buying team to chip in on this varies in dif situations

stop trying to control the narrative falsely

What about Korpisalo (15%) retained so his contract matches Georgiev at 3.4?

Bruins get out of the term, Avs get a (hopefully) better quality goaltender?

He lost his 1st game against the cats but he looked solid IMO

Korpisalo is $4.0m cap hit, but $1.0m is retained / paid by Ottawa and $3.0m is paid by whomever owns his contract (currently Boston).

Korpisalo is cheaper than Georgiev for whomever owns him.

No, he’s not. He’s got THREE more years past this year you are on the hook for. Georgiev expires next spring.

Nothing about having Korpisalo on the Avs is “cheaper” for Colorado. We don’t need or want three additional years of a guy like him.

Is McKinnon worth more? Absolutely.

Less than one year of control vs. Almost 7. Not even close. The Rangers aren't getting value out of something they don't own.

If the market for Shesty is one team you are going to be very sad about the return.

What are you even trying to say? McKinnon is worth a hell of a lot more. Not even close.
