What we be the cost to grab him?

Really low. He's stuck in a tough spot because he wouldn't clear waivers but there's basically no roster spot open to him so he's in the press box most of the time which is terrible for his development. He only played 19 games last year. I don't think anyone is expecting him to return much but he was a former 1st rounder who still has solid potential for a rebuilding-type team that can take a little bit of time to fully develop him. I'd be happy to get a goaltending prospect for him but really I'd take pretty much anything. Sitting in the press box for 60+ games isn't doing him or the team any favors

What about Joel Edmundson (23yrs) from STL?

Bolded = Not exampt from LV draft:
Between Parayko, Bouwmeester, Shattenkirk, Pietrangelo, and Gunnarsson... I assume he (Edmundson ) may be available for a fair price?

I know he's not young, but how about Jack Johnson (29yrs) from Columbus?
They need to protect Jones, Murray, and Savard

Lastly.. Brandon Dillon (25yrs) from SJS.
They need to protect Vlasic, Burns (UFA), Braun, and Martin.

Nurse is not available . He was the asking price from Boston for Hamilton and Chia said NO ! Chia vision for the Oilers is a big , physical team . Nurse fits that to a T

Chia is not trading Reinhart cheap after what he paid it would not look good for him

After trading away larsson the Devils weakness now becomes on defence.
Who would be some young (and not overpriced) defencman potentially available?

The Devils are pretty thin on the left side especially

Haydn fleury
Cam fowler
Robert Haag
Nikita zadarov(?)
Darnell nurse
Griffin Reinhart

After moving Larsson to add a shortage at forward, I think it's relevant to state what the Devil's plan on giving up. As Edmonton can attest to, young talented top4 d-men don't come cheap.

faulk, hanifin , fleury , Slavin, bean, pesce, mckeown

Carolina needs to trade at least one of them lol

All are expansion exempt except Faulk. They don't need to trade them.

Cost for Fleury would be in the Zacha range.

Santini is a prospect we've been high on from the start. With Larsson gone, he's even more important to us.

The "Is this a joke?" comment was unnecessary, though. We simply can't trade Santini due to organizational depth (or, lack thereof) at RHD.

I've seen Santini play lots and he really projects as a #4 at best. Likely a bottom pairing. He's an absolute black hole offensively... Something that you need in the NHL to succeed. Pretty sure I saw that he has 9 goals in the last 6 seasons developing!!

Think of a Roman polak level at best.

Umm have you ever heard of something called a defensive defenseman, because that is pretty much what Santini is. Look at Tanev, Larsson, Orpik, Vlasic. They don't bring too much offensively, but are still able to contribute with fantastic defensive capabilities. I wouldn't say that Santini is a guarantee to be as good as one of them, but I think an Orpik like career is not out of the question

Its HF, all that matters is the stat line. You have to take pretty much everyone here with a tablespoon of salt

NJD has been doing pretty good with former Flames. Why not give Russell a PTO and see if he can do something similar to what Schlemko did as a #4? Russell is 29. Not young, but not super old either.

Is this the part where you tell me Santini is some kind of amazing prospect? Cause that would be a real joke.

You think it smart to trade away a young dman when we need young dmen...

And Santini is NJ's best defensive prospect so the only joke here is your lack of knowledge on the situation.

I'd definitely give Russell a shot on a PTO, I don't know if Shero is going to go down that route though. Moore is most likely safe from being driven out of the lineup, so really the only spot left is Merrill's. I know a lot of Devils fans aren't that high on Merrill so it would probably be an upgrade in their eyes. But I think he can still turn his game around. That said, he is coming off of surgery and might not be completely ready for the start of the season and having Russell as an insurance policy or just as healthy competition in camp would be awesome.

I think Merrill's spot is really the only one open for grabs right now. Greene and Moore won't be going anywhere as far as I'm concerned. And then on the right Severson and Lovejoy are locks and it certainly seems like management has a lot of faith in Santini to step in this season. If there's any deal to be made it'll be at the deadline or next off-season, I think Shero will roll with what he's got this year. Unless of course bringing in someone like Russell on a PTO comes up, then those waters will probably be tested.

Not sure if one of NJs fits your ask
Both will be exposed to LV
I think Wedgewood beats out Kinkaid for the backup to Schneider
Other than that Appleby is like 19 and I don't think they move blackwood imo

Are you looking to find a G to develop and take over down the road or get you thru this patch now?

No, our left side is actually considerably weaker than our right side.

RDs are Severson-Lovejoy-Santini; LDs are Greene-Merrill/Moore-Moore/Merrill. Considering not many Devils fans are super high on either Merrill or Moore, you can understand our qualms.

I think the most realistic option for us is Simon Despres, but I don't want to move Boucher for him.

(At least not until we hold camp and see if someone could fill in for him, if traded.)

I thought Devils fans were in love with Merrill.

Devils don't have the right piece for Fowler so Despres is best would offer.

the most complete Dmen at preventing GA in the game.

Manson 1st comp

Lovejoy 1st comp
Ellis 2nd comp
Alzner 1st comp
Larsson 1st comp
Parayko 3rd comp
Martinez 3rd comp
Niskanen 1st comp
Brodin 1st comp

considering the scouts bob mackenzie polls
said "Davidson would starting the top 4of any playoff team."

Any oiler fan that would trade davidson obviously likes picking in the top 5.

Tanev for Hall :sarcasm:

Cup winners all have:
1. HSCA defensive system coach.
2. Top 10 HSCA save% goalie
3. 3+ top 60 HSCA D
4. 3 lines of Even Scoring depth usually driven by centers.
5. +ve goal differential Special teams PK/PP

Tanev has been a top 60 HSCAD for the last 4 years.
He and gudbranson (top 30) are a good start to the defensive Dman core a team needs to compete for the cup.

Canucks might want to start with
1. a coach
2. a HSCA save% goalie
3. adding to Tanev and Gudbranson
