If I were Briere, I'd be making calls to Buffalo to try to swing a deal for Cozens. I think he needs a change of scenery and Buffalo needs to shake things up. And Torts could be the right guy to help Cozens improve his defensive reliability and positioning.

Josh Norris is an interesting target as well. The obvious concern there is his injury history, combined with the long-term contract he's on.

Some guys that I'd be interested in, but am not sure would ever be available (so please don't tear me apart if these are totally unrealistic):

* Matt Barzal
* Mason McTavish, Trevor Zegras
* Dylan Larkin (sounds like the rumors aren't really true)
* Cole Sillinger
* Quinton Byfield (could the Flyers wow the Kings with a massive package to pry him away? probably a pipe dream)

The problem is Flyers have picks but don't have players and prospects good enough for this kind of a trade. Teams trade good players for picks only when they're gonna rebuild, but even rebuilding teams don't trade good young players.

Cozens is probably good variant because he struggles, and Buffalo is a mess.

I think guys like Farabee, Foerster, Brink, Bonk, Drysdale, etc. are valuable pieces the Flyers could include in a trade for Cozens. Even a guy like Laughton would be a valuable piece for a team like Buffalo that desperately needs better leadership.

For Cozens, yes, but not for McTavish or Larkin or even Byfield despite him struggling this season.

I’m not sure I agree with your valuation of McTavish, but you’re probably right regarding Larkin and Byfield.

Hm, I thought, McTavish was more successful than he actually is. And Ducks have a lot of centers who they play as wingers. Still not sure they will trade a player who they picked as 3rd OA just 3 years ago.

This isn't a team that is a single C away from being a competitor. Keep your picks, and continue to build through the draft.

Hard to trade for one…. Unless they are busting.

Some sort of reclamation project which can have mixed results maybe.

Strome and Zacha shook loose. Dach shook loose and might shake loose again.

Keep an eye on Byfield.
