Bozak, Michalek are placeholders. JvR should be traded soon because he doesn't deserve 6-7M he will demand when he only shows up for half the games.

Kadri line is just all kinds of wrong...they don't mesh together at all. No idea why Komarov and Kadri play together still.

I'd much rather have JvR with Kadri and Marner and Matthews with Nylander and Brown. This team is just not balanced.

I think we are tanking. Unbalanced PP units, broken D pairings, broken lines. It's like we are purposely not putting the jigsaw puzzles pieces in the right places.

Hunwick and Polak out on the ice defending a one goal lead is ridiculous. Both of these players are #7Ds.

If we have to lose, can we do it with our best players?

Why would we be tanking? we need D there are 2 at the top of the draft one is compared to erik karlsson more offense isnt really needed the other doesnt really sound like hes a 1d potential from scouting reports, so why tank for MORE offensive players we are overflowing with them

Not much you can do when you got Toews, Kane and Panarin coming at you in the shootout. Toews shot was near unstoppable

Andersen made some really nice saves tonight. He was very good but he'd have to be Carey Price level to have stolen this one for us

Quit giving up bad goals in regulation. Their second goal, Reimer was always roasted for far less than that. I'm beginning to think Freddy can't handle a crowd, he discombobulates in traffic, the exact opposite of what this team needs.
Babcock saying we were out-numbered down low but the guy responsible is the same guy that everybody wants gone except Babs.

Gardiner made 1 huge mistake (didn't lead to a goal, but it was a point blank shot), other than that his game was really, really good. Even the commentators mentioned that too. Kid had 60% possession on the night, leading the 48% team. 1 bad play ruined how people viewed him tonight.

I don't think enough people have critisized the Kadri line, absolutely dreadful. Leafs would've won if they were at least decent.

Kadri line did nothing tonight...likely the kane line overwhelmed them.
Komarov has been ineffective lately. However, I saw Brown on the Kadri line on a couple of shifts which is nice.. Replace komarov with leivo/sosh/kapenen and we could also have a good line

You don't have to be Carey Price to win a game you lead 4-2 with less than 2-3 minutes to go. I bet teams go on to win that game 95% of the time regardless of the goalie in net.

You do when your defense is as poor as ours and you're going up against one of the best teams in the league

Repost:

That 3rd rebound goal is a set play. A hard rubber puck hitting hard foam boards comes off with alot of velocity, it's physics. Players know this and play the bank off the pads. Remember when Matthews did it tonight? The only thing i didnt like about it was his kicking motion that put the puck right into the slot. The only other option is a move that alot of goalies don't use anymore and that is deflecting it with the stick. It's an old school move that only one goalie i see do it on a regular basis and is really good at it is Bernier. In his time here he deflected alot of low shots into the crowd.

That tying goal, there was three Hawks alone in front screening the goalie and all there to tap in a rebound uncontested but yet the idiots on here blame Andersen. He played great tonight but still gets blamed even though the forwards and defense are constantly turning pucks over and are out of position. If you're giving up 30 shots it is one thing but it is the 10+ grade A scoring chances a game that are getting out of hand. How many times did they walk right in towards the net in OT uncontested?

Tough being the best D-man when you're 22.

I wouldn't say that. Zaitsev is the best defenseman we have i think. Rielly has no poise in alot of situations and makes alot of poor decision because he chokes when pressured. He has handled the pressure like a hand grenade with the pin pulled so far.

Is there any reason not to expect this guy to be rushing the puck every shift with that skating ability! He doesn't do it. I find that concerning actually. Babs wouldn't put him on the power play too. He looks ******.

Still a little early, but that contract could be an albatross if he turns out to be a lemon. :shakehead
Well, my theory behind it is if we can get rid of Bernier and his contract, we can do the same with Andersen. Not a biggie, but even non Leaf fans here are saying stick with him because he is good, so hopefully they are right and I am wrong

that opportunity Marner had to bury the game.....it was like a two on one he passes the puck, gets it back, then passes it again. The guy has to learn that it's not the prettiest goals that matter more. Shoot the damn thing. I hate when young players come up and treat the nhl like it's pond hockey or the ohl. Show urgency and bury the opposing team if you have a chance.

Further to my point:

Babcock scoffs at notion that Leafs inexperience costing team: "It wasn't the young guys who made those mistakes"

This wasn't inexperience. We just don't have a single good veteran on this team. They all suck.

We might be blowing leads due to inexperience but what's being lost here is very good teams giving up 4 goals to us where we clearly look better. Once we strengthen the D and clean that up, we will be tough.

Hey, guys, and gals, we'll be fine very soon.

It won't long before Andersen realizes he's a goalie. Then, watch out, we won't need a #1 or #2 D.

That was disappointing, but that was their best line tonight.

Bozak, Marner and van Riemsdyk are starting to build some chemistry.

2 lies ready, 2 lines struggling.

Babcock is completely right

On the 3rd goal, Rielly doesn't box out and Toews beats him to the puck and gets a clean shot

On the 4th goal, there's 3 of the Hawks players battling for the rebound and 2 of ours. What exactly are you expecting there?

He could have, but would have given away a coaches challenge.

I know that the one he called was grasping for nothing. A time out wouldn't have done much for the team. They were being pressed by some of the best in the NHL.

I think the break they got while waiting for them to review the call was longer than the timeout they would have gotten lol.

And on the 2nd goal one of Kadri/Gardiner blew their defensive assignments and let Motte stand in front of Andersen all by himself for the rebound.

And on the first goal, Zaitsev didn't take the passing lane from Panarin and Hunwick was out of position to take his man who scored.
