Yegor Surin - C | 22nd Overall (1st round) | 2024 Draft

Surin has some grit to his game. He's also increased his production for the playoffs. He was a finalist for the KHL rookie of the year as one of the youngest players in the league (I read 15th youngest but can't confirm). Demidov was the easy pick, but nice to see the recognition for Surin.

I still have doubts if he finishes as a Center long term, but I really like his game. He's got some Tarasenko to his game with some Sam Bennett.

Bingo. Beggers can't be choosers at this point. We just need guys who can be productive.
AND guys who the "braintrust" might actually appreciate stylistically... and hence won't roadblock their development. Surin's edginess will probably endear him to the "braintrust", which hopefully will help him avoid being sidelined the way some of our less-edgy guys have been? :dunno:

Surin definitely looks like a solid pick from a rather weak draft class. Fierce competitor, offensively capable and strong as an ox. Was very good as an 18-year-old on a team that won the whole thing in the KHL. Played most of the year with Radulov, who's actually a decent comparable for him. Production also increased throughout the season.

All very encouraging signs for a guy who's looking to pop off offensively next year in the KHL.
