remind me what he was up to for the last 15 games or so this season

remind me what he was up to for the last 15 games or so this season
You mean when he came back from a few months off and the coach decided he couldn’t wait for him to get in game shape in a playoff race so he iced Luke Kunin instead?remind me what he was up to for the last 15 games or so this season
I mean he technically was "healthy scratched"We will when you can explain to us in ANY detail why he was even out of the lineup for so long and in what way he was actually bothered.
Some people keep claiming he was “healthy scratched” at the end of the year, literally after coming back after a reported injury and looking noticeably worse and clearly not 100%.
f***, Laine and some other guys get the “injury excuse” for YEARS.
Where is the “Chinakhov is a warrior for trying to play through a back injury” narrative?? Things seem A LOT different than when Johansen was going through his issues, and many people here were ready to give a kidney.
If Waddell goes big game hunting and they ask for Chinakhov as an addition to the package as a cheap low risk high reward piece, sure trade him. Trading him for the hell of it because others are viewed above him is completely nonsensical

He was healthy enough to play which is why he was active but he was ineffective and maybe still out of shape and was a hinderance to the team at that time. I'm sure it was tied to his long term nagging back injury but if you are healthy enough to be activated but still being scratched I don't know what else you can call it.
If he wasn't healthy enough to contribute he shouldn't have been activated. Maybe it should have been handled differently. We are changing the strength and conditioning staff this year after all. But in the end, he could not keep up while the team was chasing a playoff spot. I hope that was only a temporary setback and the summer is a better reset for him.
Holy shit, you're using decimals? You must be really passionate about the guy.So we’re only using Marchenko’s “breakout year”, while looking at Chinakhovs entire (while admittedly short) career? What were Marchenko’s numbers before last year? 67 points in 137 games. .48 points per game.
Take away Chinakhov’s rookie year (14 pts in 62 games-which you should consider fair as I’m attempting to prove a point as you did) and he has 57 points in 113 games. .50 points per game
That’s crazy talk… I’ll agree that Like Boone it’s hard to count on him to be healthy .. I will also say, I don’t find it a coincidence that Don axed the trainer here as well. Chinny, Voronkov , I think Don realized pretty quick there was an issue and took decisive action . But Chinakov when he’s been healthy is one of our best forwards .. dynamic speed , shot , size , etc .. it’s easy for forget he just turned 24 .. has a favorable contract , and any move involving him would likely be selling at a diminished asset value .. I think if your confident the training staff had a part in some of these guys missing games , you let it play out this year .. he could turn into an elite forwardI'm not saying that. But if they are talking trade and the other team says "I'll take any of these 10 forwards on your active roster", I would have him at 10.
(and behind a few prospects, but we are talking the big club)
Players on an NHL roster are paid the same wage whether they play or are scratched for whatever reason. IR pay is the same as regular pay as well.I’m genuinely curious if the players are paid differently from when they are “healthy” and scratched, or when they are on the IR or miss games due to an official injury.
Teams have done the same in the past, calling guys up and down to get guys paid NHL money instead of AHL money.
I don't think so. I believe if you are on the NHL roster you are paid the same way regardless. Salaries are different between the NHL and AHL in most contracts but since NHL contracts are guaranteed I don't think IR status means a thing as long as you are on the roster.I’m genuinely curious if the players are paid differently from when they are “healthy” and scratched, or when they are on the IR or miss games due to an official injury.

If an AHL guy is called up and injured in the NHL and gets put on the NHL IR, then he gets lucky to be making NHL money while he recovers instead of his AHL salary. Even if an AHL guy gets called up and is a scratch for that night and sent back down, he still gets a full NHL payday just for being there.
Simply that if he suffered the same injuries in the AHL, he'd be paid his AHL salary on IR. If he was called up and played a single game in the NHL and got injured in that game, they can't send him down when he's injured even their original intention was to only have them play a game or 2 so he spends his time on NHL IR making an NHL salary....an AHL guy is called up and injured in the NHL and gets put on the NHL IR, then he gets lucky....
Maybe one of the most CBJ things ever written.
I know that's not what you meant, IBM, and I removed the context of how the injured player is paid (you are correct), but I found the phrase ironic/humorous/descriptive in a vacuum.
Uhh, to be clear that’s the joke. It’s sarcasm. Pretty dumb reason not to criticize a player, just for the simple facts he plays on the team.I feel like there is a lot of things I could say about this sentence but I won't.
The one predominant thing folks are getting on him for is his injury history. Again, it feels to me a lot like Ryan Murray, who was blatantly and obviously top-pairing when he was healthy but was practically never healthy.Uhh, to be clear that’s the joke. It’s sarcasm. Everyone has “favorites”, and at the same time dislikes certain players from their favorite teams for a number of different reasons.
While some people may portray my opinions on players are based on something other than their impact on the ice, and on the TEAM overall, I assure you that is not true. Which is what makes it SO INSANE that there are CBJ fans (who apparently watch him play regularly) downplaying Chinakhov in ANY way.
I wholeheartedly believe people just have terrible and/or terribly selective memories. Chinakhov literally looked like our best forward last October and people are acting like that means nothing and that he’s “expendable” or not a potential long term piece.

Boone and Yegor have played 84 /83 games in past 2 seasons …The one predominant thing folks are getting on him for is his injury history. Again, it feels to me a lot like Ryan Murray, who was blatantly and obviously top-pairing when he was healthy but was practically never healthy.
Those two things ARE the debate. No one is debating the skill. No one is debating the injuries. The debate is whether the skill is worth the wait. Some say yes, some say no.This whole thread is the dumbest argument ever
Chinakhov's pure skill speaks for itself. He's the fastest skater and hardest shot on the team. Is anybody debating this? Dude just cant stay healthy, none of it matters from the press box. Is anybody debating this?
What are we even doing here?

Full healthy seasons for all 3, give me Chinakhov. Dude can fly.Yes, the stats show Werenski is the fastest skater, Fantilli is faster as well, amongst others.
Regardless if he's truly the "fastest" or not is semantics. he's certainly not slow.Yes, the stats show Werenski is the fastest skater, Fantilli is faster as well, amongst others.
Absolutely.Regardless if he's truly the "fastest" or not is semantics. he's certainly not slow.
But I am pretty sure he has the hardest shot on the team. I saw him routinely have the fastest shot in the game stats in the arena when he was healthy. But you need to be able to use it to be effective.
