That actually works to Chinakovs advantage. If Werenski is still leading the PP, Chinny can post up in the RD position and it's an easy quick pass for Z to make.

If you have a RH up there and they want to post him up for one timers, that means they need to be on the left hand side of the ice. Which forces Z to the right, now to make that pass he has to either backhand it across or take an extra half a second to stick handle the puck into a passing position. Which could be the difference of beating the defender trying to tip the puck or the goalie getting a piece of it.


And if Z is on the left and a RH shot on the right now Z has to pass the puck not only across his body, but of that player as well.

Chinny out there also allows Z to use one of his best weapons, the good ole head fake. Now there's a real threat when the puck is on his stick at the point, is he going to let one lose if the goalie is cheating? Is he going to dish it to an extremely lethal one timer on the other side of the ice? Or drive down low and look for someone to sneak back door?


Can it work? Sure, but not nearly as efficient as it should.

The main thing is Chinakhov skating is miles better than Laine.

Laine certainly has a big advantage in size, but never really used it to his advantage

I was just talking about his shot. Laine when hes actually doing what he should can get shots off in the blink of an eye with stupid amounts of power. Issue is we didnt get much of that guy

His speed bursts and wrist shot speed have been recorded as some of the best in the league.

In some ways he reminds me of Barzal

That's a great question. The poster above who said Barzal is a good one. I can't think of anything better. Just a slick player.

Barzal is a super agile player with high end handling, and not an elite shot.

There's fast snipers out there but no one like Chinakhov.

I asked the same question and it gave me Bjorkstrand. I think Bjorkstrand is closer than Arvidsson, who isn't fast (anymore) and doesn't have a cannon. But still not close. There really isn't anyone quite like Chinakhov.

There have always been fast guys with elite shots, like Billy Guerin. And some similar players these days like a Miles Wood or Josh Anderson, but those guys are below average in playmaking or some other dimension. And all those guys have some power forward toughness that Chinakhov doesn't have. Chinny has the strength for it though.
