Seattle would be looking for a 1st for Gourde 50% retained, or a decent slightly less than bluechip prospect. Also Gourde is primarily a winger and not a center You want him on the wing, not at C.

He's not returning a 1st at this stage of his career imo, especially if you're correct in that he's a winger more than a center
I believe he absolutely will return a first if Francis moves him. His icetime is down this season, but he is still nearly .5 PPG playing mostly a defensive role with primarily D zone starts, very limited PP time, and bottom six wingers. He plays center almost exclusively at even strength, but he has been PKing with Stephenson so maybe that is where the playing wing idea came from.
Gourde is a guy who greatly elevates his game in the postseason, but if the Kraken are in the hunt for a playoff spot, I doubt he will be moved. If Seattle makes him available, there will likely be a bidding war and a late first in this draft should be on the table from some team looking to bolster their playoff roster.

Gourde should fetch a couple 2nd Rounders and a 4thR...so a 2nd rounder in 2025,2027 and a 4th in 2026

You're right, he has mostly played center still, my bad. He played a few games with Beniers as his center, that's probably what I got mixed up.

Robertson and pick for Gourde would be ideal for Toronto IMO, but Seattle doesn't need wingers.
Maybe find a 3rd team that wants to trade a draft pick to acquire Robertson... trade Robertson there, and then send the pick you got for Robertson and another pick to Seattle for Gourde.

Granlund is an other who can bring a 1st if they find a way to fit the salary.
In a season with no option at C, Gourde could had cost a 1st with a bidding war but this season it will be harder to create a bidding war on Gourde

The Leafs are no better this year than they were the same time last year. This time last year they were 21-8-7. 49 points in 36 games compared to 48 points in 38 games this year.

As another mentioned, the team that acquires Nelson or Granlund first will effectively set the price for Gourde. Out of that group, I think Gourde will be seen as the budget option.
For Gourde the most I could see the Leafs paying is a 2025 2nd, San Jose’s 2025 3rd, 2026 3rd and Robertson.

I can see a bidding war happening . Devils need a 3c as well and a massive need to upgrade their bottom 6 . Not sure who else needs a 3c but for sure the Devils do. And I can see Fitz being very aggressive . A first or equivalent is not out of the question for Gourde .
If the leafs do that then they'd have zero picks in the first 4 rounds of the 2025 draft and one pick in the first 4 rounds of the 2026 draft. Too many picks for them to trade away for a 3rd line C in my opinion. I could see them trading a 2nd OR 3rd + 3rd , but not a 2nd + 3rd + 3rd all for one guy like Gourde
I like Groude but he is 33 and not worth a first as a rental but if Seattle can get that good for them.
Gourde will return more than Granlund.
Playoff teams want players like Gourde for their 3rd line. Granlund needs top 6 minutes and #1 PP time to produce, and most cup contenders already have those roles filled. But he seems like a good vet in San Jose, it would make the most sense just to keep him.

Not to mention all the other injuries. One of the most injury struck teams in the league. We had A. Nylander - Minten - Grebenkin as a third line at one point lol
Buffalo is last in the Atlantic, and Bottom 5 in the league, why would they be in on rentals? and even if they did make that offer, he's got some level of trade protection, why would he waive to go to Buffalo?
The only way he goes to Buffalo is in a 3 way trade where Buffalo retains 25% and Seattle retains 50%
At this point buffalo just needs vets that can play in the middle six but I was unaware of his contract situation making him a bad target
