OT: Yahoo Fantasy Hockey/NHL Video Game Thread

Initially my drafting didn't go the way I had hoped, but I'm starting to like my team despite having so many soft players. should be a fun and competitive season.

Pretty happy considering my first 8 picks were chosen via autodraft (Lundqvist, Kane, Niemi, Heatley, Letang, Skinner, Lecavalier, and Krejci).

You took a lot of players out of my que. Streit and Berglund particularly irked me. Good team.

Can't wait to get this season started!
 
Just got my team. Loving my defense. Stole Crosby with the 8th overall pick. Hit or miss? Sure. But if he's back and plays most of the season I'm getting the best player in the game with the 8th pick.

A n00b question..

I just signed up for espn's hockey cahllenge thinghy (Pick 12 players and get point on how they play in real life nhl)..

Is this the same as fantasy hockey league's ?

Or am I too tired and way off ?

I don't particularly care for this team.

Crosby 10th was risky IMO. At least you also got Zetterberg, but I mean, think about who you missed out on.

Not a fan of the goaltending tandem. Personally, I just think Kipper and Broduer are too old to really take a disproportionate amount of their team's starts AND put up the kind of numbers they're known for. Varlamov could be a good pick, but just too many question marks for that team as a whole for me.

Zajac is months away and really, last season was such a bomb, I'm not sure I would have touched him even if he was healthy.

Pronger at 82? I know there was significantly better defensive options available in the 7th round.

That's cool man. I asked for a critique. I'm not one of those guys that posts their teams to get a pat on the back. I took a lot of risks in this draft, I don't deny it. The only thing I didn't know about was Zajac.

The rest I made a calculated gamble. I am relying on my D and LW to get me the secondary catagories (PIMS, Hits and chip in on SOG and +/-) My 2 C (Spezza and Zetterberg) to hold down the scoring with Kovalchuk and Gaborik providing support.

As for the goalies, another calculated risk. There were 10 goalies selected before Kipper and it was Brodeur or Backstrom or Reimer. Again another goalie run in between. I didn't stress about goalies like I did in years past as Goalie stats are only 5 catagories whereas Forward stats are 7.

After the draft I picked up 2 guys I thought would blow up in Voracek and Seguin and IRd Crosby and Zajac.

Yeah my goalies are real weak, well more like they play for weak teams. As far as a trade goes it would really depend on the asking price, what I'll most likely do is just hope I get lucky and eek by with these clowns. My forwards and D should do a good job putting up the points, only a few guys I'm not high on (Erat, Peverley, and Weiss.)
 
This is one of the holidays where I'm annually stunned at how many people don't have to show up for work. I mean, traffic was a "Friday after Thanksgiving" level this morning. Guess it's enough to be able to fill these arenas. :dunno:
