  • Eat well.

  • Poll question arises from looking at our remaining back-to-backs and thinking guaranteed backup starts. With 43 games to go, there are going to be more opportunities than just the 5 back-to-backs remaining. Giving Rodrigue a start is a multifaceted issue that would involve Pickard, waivers, possibly injury, the 23-man roster limit, cap space, etc.

  • I liked the Kakko addition for Seattle, decent bet for them. I wonder if the Rangers would flip Borgen closer to the deadline.

Which teams shows up tonight? The one that is happy with where they are or the one that wants to win the division?

I trust the coach to decide what to do.

Nearly a month after claiming Ragula and he still hasn't played a game NHL or AHL.
I assume the Bruins waived him because he was close to being ready, but the Oil aren't pushing it at all.

We've seen the same with Jarventie and even Arvidsson. It feels like the teams deliberately telling guys not to push through lingering injuries during the first half of the season. I assume this is the lesson they learned from Kane last year.

It doesn't make sense to play through something during the regular season and have it impact your peak in the playoffs, when you can easily take a month off now and get to 100%, so you're ready for when the games actually matter in spring.

Since multiple votes were allowed in the poll I hedged my bet and voted both yes and no!! :)

Actually I suspect he only gets a start if the Oilers wrap up their playoff spot early or if there is an injury to Skinner. They won't carry three goalies unless they have to and even then I suspect that they will resist starting him if their spot is still not decided.

Leon appreciation:

What a beauty we have here. Signs a $14M extension in the Summer and immediately goes to work to prove he’s worth it.

Seen so many big money extensions league wide that went sideways immediately after signing. Seems more common than the extension working out. And here we got a guy that sees that and says “yeh that’s not me”.

Voted no.

The only way I'd vote yes if it were for a cup of coffee when the team has nothing to play for (ie playoffs and seedings are locked in).

Let the kid keep up the good work in the A

Now waive Ryan and call up Philp for the road trip.

My guess: He's called up for the Colorado game on the 16th. It's the one point where the Condors and Oilers overlap, as the Condors will be nearby for their matches on the 14th and 15th.

He sits that night (3 games in 3 nights is a bad idea), but suits up in Vancouver and is settled in with team by the time they get back to Edmonton for their 6 game homestand and a ton of practices.

Based on how poorly EDM has played since returning from the Xmas break, I wouldn't be surprised if they lose especially it being a back to back and having to go on the road for this game. But we will see. There are ups and downs in a season and obviously EDM will amp it up when it starts to matter.

Can't wait for the epic meltdown on the mains when McDavid signs his next deal in Edmonton.
