CP is a special place. Even at the bottom of the manure pile they are arrogant, condescending, and classless. Hope the boys make it hurt for them tonight.

lmao. You should beat us.
Don't underestimate the apathy and flakiness of the Edmonton Oilers.

I agree with this. A lot of people seem to think they can just extrapolate the data and thats what would happen here. This team started what 8-2 last year? and ended up finishing 29th in the league.

realistically speaking this team starts out good then as other teams get in the groove they start to loose, this season is no different. The fact that its only 48 games hides the fact that this is a bottom feeder for the 4th straight season...

BS.

You're post is based on extrapolating data from previous seasons so don't call out others who chose extrapolate differently...

Meh... I seem to have lost a lot of spark for these games. Probably the warmer spring weather (at least up here in Northern Alberta)... and the fact that the Oilers are out of it yet again.

On paper the Oilers should take this at home rather easily, but beating Calgary 3 times in a row isn't an easy feat either. I think The Flames will put up a tough fight and it will be a close game.

I'll likely still watch the game but not overly excited. Wish the battle of Alberta actually meant something again.

Can someone find Feaster's quote about how stupid and bad the Oilers were for tanking, and that he wouldn't do that?

Thankz

Hopefully the boys can pad their stats. I'm sure that's the main focus for them at this point.

1st Game I am missing all year

I have watched all the Oilers games but since they checked out I have checked out. The only thing I can say about this is I hope that fat tub of Goo Feaster enjoys the trials of a rebuild. it won't be easy for the Flames either. They were a one trick pony but when you lose a world class goalie you get to see how it becomes a tougher. Go Oil

Calgary's in a great position to start their re-build. Three picks in the best draft since '08. If they suck as long as we did they'll end up with Barkov/MacKinnon, Ekblad and McDavid.

Hmmmm. I'll believe that when I see it. I wouldn't describe Calgary's position as "great".

Hopefully Feaster trades away all his picks and prospects for Brad Richards.

You don't want to know.

Let's just say it involves children and is something that Calgary fans are notorious for liking.

Lol! Brutal.

Don't care about the result of this game, don't think I'll even bother to watch it. My enthusiasm for this team is pretty much fully drained.

They really are in a good spot compared to where the Oilers were when they rebuilt though. They are already set up well for this draft and they have some real assets they could move. Glencross and Giordano could get them a high pick or a good prospect as well.
All that said, their farm system is a pretty empty cupboard right now, much like the Oilers was.

All this talk about "Coilers" and "Calgary Puck". I stumbled upon this little gem on CP posted by a beaten down Flames fan. A good read after what we have gone through these last several years. LOL.

Hilarious!

Saw that too, its pretty funny. Although I will not comment on the pedigree of their prospects I do see alot of similairities between 07-08 Oilers and the Flames today

Both percieved to have "good" prospects, but not any blue chippers or sure fire guys. Both had 3 picks in the first round, and both had crappy GM's

Oilers had Rob Schremp, 147 points in OHL and 47 pts in 19 playoff games (!!). They also had Cogs put up 47 pts as a rookie and a promising guy in Gagner. Not to mention guys like JF jaques, Nillson, PWF college guy Riley Nash and Chorney. Sounds bad now, but I was singing a different tune in 07

All of those guys were justifiable reason enough to be excited. I do see similarities between those guys and Backlund, Barstchi, Backlund, Brodie. jankowski. Those guys are good prospects and give reason to be hopeful. But the crop of the those guys in 2013 had no more pedigree than the 07 Oilers. You can laugh if you want, but hindsight is 20/20. I dont wish to flame calgary or mock them, but its a realistic view and justifiable to

Now many of the 07 class busted, and Im not saying the Calg guys will follow the same fait, but they have the same possibly of reaching peaks or busting.

Management also plays a key in rebuilding and I think a competent GM could have rebuilt the 07 Oilers in 2 years. But would need solid FA signings/trades/drafts. Tambo proved he couldnt do that and Feaster has not proved beyond a reasonable doubt he can.

And by no means am I trying to be the elder giving wisdom to the poor, I realize the Oilers have a LONG way to go and are not out of the woods yet.

Thats just my two cents

P.s. Interesting fact. Oilers had a 20.6% of picking 1st OA 3 years in a row. Teams now only have a 4% chance of doing the same.

The Eberle pick was pretty fluky to considering Ducks needed to win the cup to get the pick and there was some landmines around the 22nd pick

Schultz was pretty flukey to, one of a few guys to exploit that rule and he was the highest quality.

The chances of Oilers picking 3 #1's+ getting Eberle + schultz would be shockingly low

Not all picks are a slam dunk, obviously.

Glencross and Giordano both have no trade clauses. And every other team in the league knows it. Feaster won't get very much.

Kipper has been the reason why the Calgary rebuild didn't happen years ago. Replacing a goaltender of his quality will be a difficult task for Feaster.

I anticipate a very, very, long, long re-build for Calgary despite what Feaster calls it or expects.
