Choked me up a few times. Easy kid to cheer for, fantastic parents.

Hockey parents, take note.. they never pressured him, they tell him to go out and have fun and set a good example. Yelling at officials and putting the pressure of the world on your kids is not how you create NHLers.

I didn't even know his dad was a Habs fan, let alone the story on how he became one.

Love seeing an NHL'er from a real working class family, never mind their incredible back story. Imagine how many potential NHL players never got a chance because their family couldn't afford it. So glad one made it and the Habs got him. Easily my favourite player on the team

His father had no choice but to flee his native country and found a way to get to Macedonia, then to Sweden and eventually to England.

It’s in England where he heard that Canada is the best country in the world and made his way here without a passport and was received as a refugee. A great story.

As for the Costco connection, I couldn’t believe that his mother still works there. And when he used some of his early income to buy brand new appliances for his parents, they came from Costco lol.

Great feature. Could have been a full length documentary, I’m sure there’s a lot more to the story.

I can relate to the idea of wanting to retire your parents. I’ll never be able to but giving back to the people who made your success possible is something that resonates with me. I hope he gets that opportunity.
