Wrestlemania is billed as a spectacle. The whole idea is to make it as big as possible. Cody wasn’t even in the company when they were planning Roman/Rock.
I'm not disagreeing with you on that.

I am saying the entire year of storytelling makes zero sense and is a slap in the face of fans because TKO seemingly finally got Rocky's go ahead.

Stuff like this is why fans have a gripe with WWE.

Also something I think a lot of people hoped we were past. They were telling a logical story here and pulled the rug out last second in kayfabe.

I don't really care about the shoot reasons at the moment. They presented one story and swerved into another.

Dave says the plan as of last week was Seth vs Punk and Cody vs Roman. Rock was planned for down the road, either Saudi or next year's Mania.

Then Punk got hurt, then the Vince stuff happened and they lost Brock so they panicked and made this change.

That makes the most sense because there is no way Rock vs Roman was a long term plan, and you have Cody win the Rumble and directly pick Roman to close the show and plaster that all over social media.

Imagine it was the late 90s. Austin wins the Royal Rumble, poised to challenge Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania. The main event between the two biggest stars in the company. Austin needs to finally win the big one at the biggest event of the year.

They stand in the ring, stare each other down.

Suddenly, “Real American” hits and out comes Hulk Hogan. Austin shakes Hogan’s hand, gives him a hug, forsakes his title shot and leaves the ring to allow Hogan the main event instead.

How does any of that make sense?

Unless it's a non-title match I don't see how they're going to pull it off. Rock winning the title would be dumb. If Roman wins then what? Have him keep it another year and have Cody win the Rumble 3 years in a row?

I went from going to WM40 late this year and buying tickets/hotel to arguably not even watching any of the event on TV now with how disgusted I am with the Rock v Reigns being a match. Next level f***ery from WWE

Could have Cody and Reigns do a unification match at WM41 but then you're wasting another year.

The easiest fix would've been having Seth v Guenther and you have Guenther win the belt/cashed in on by Priest then starting that feud while Seth heals his injuries and then you have Cody beat Roman. Wasn't exactly rocket science.

I watched the segment this morning out of morbid curiosity. They cucked out their two biggest full time stars for two part timers lmao that is some good old fashioned WWE shit right there. I don't even like Cody and I felt bad for the guy lol

The story has been leveling up the Bloodline, and Roman eventually ceding the Head of the Table. Which has been going on longer than a year.

Without reading any "reports", I'm thinking Rock vs Reigns was only confirmed in the last few days, because if they knew they were going with that, why have Cody win the Rumble?

Cody looks like a geek now. He has to change what "finishing the story" really means after 2 years of telling us it means winning the WWE title for his dad.

Unrelated but I don't like how they've been treating Jimmy Uso like a goofy lackey. It's ruining Jey vs Jimmy for me.

Unless I missed it, no one made the "board member of company puts himself in WM40 main event" comment yet?

This just murdered my interest in Wrestlemania.
same 0 reason to tune in.. casuals being excited over a 50 plus year old rock headlining is hilariously bad.. and cody possibily headlining vs a guy he beat 3 times including once with one arm lol...? at this point becky vs rhea and maybe seeing what gunther and drew end up doing the only decent parts to maybe tune in for.

Unless they do Rock/Roman at EC (I know, they won't) then this sucks.

Yet another time when WWE or AEW can't help themselves and brings back wrestlers from 20 years ago.
Roman drops title for Cody at EC. Rock beats Roman WM for Head of table "title" Yeah not gonna happen :(

I am bit intrigued by Cody vs Rollins. Well just the match result. I figure Cody has to win but then, I think that really hurts Rollins losing to Cody 4-5 times in 2 years. I hope it doesn't lead to another heel turn for Rollins.

What I don't get is this clearly was the plan as of last Monday when Seth and Cody had that promo in the ring.

Rollins makes a very compelling case as to why Rhodes should face him at 'Mania.

Why not just have Rhodes accept right there? Would of made a heck of a lot more sense and everyone would of came across stronger.

Instead now your No.1 babyface looks weak stepping aside for The Rock. A guy they've spent years building up steps aside for a part-timer in his 50s.

Your WH Championship now comes across as a lesser title. They've spent nearly a year building up Rollins and a brand new title, and then let Roman crap all over it and the champion. They aren't facing each other anytime soon I don't think so why hurt what they've spent time building. If Cody had accepted on Raw then Roman has no reason to even mention Rollins.

Meanwhile, now there is negative sentiment towards The Rock because he's literally taking Cody spot in the fans eyes, even though it wasn't clear if Cody gave up his WM title match opportunity or can he just challenge Rollins instead now for the WH title.

And storyline wise I know they didn't make the match official but why does Roman have to face Rock again? Did Rock earn a title match? Could Roman just tell Rock to go crawl back to Hollywood because he's got no reason to face a guy who hasn't wrestled in over a decade for the belt?

Just poor execution all around that didn't do anybody any favors. Roman is the only one who benefitted as he cut a pretty decent promo crapping on Seth with a couple pretty funny lines.
