It does mean something though, whether we like it or not. Casual fans and children root for guys based off how cool they look in large part. They dont care or even notice things like ''workrate'' or who can cut a believable promo. Kids wanna be like Roman Reigns, Goldberg, The Rock, Stone Cold ect. What kid is going to look at Dean Ambrose or Kevin Owens and see a cool factor in them? Sorry but they look like average guys you'd see on the street. They dont care or even notice things like ''workrate'' or who can cut a believable promo.

Kids will cheer for literally any big babyface you push. Ryback, Cena, Reigns, doesn't matter. That's literally appealing to the lowest common denominator. Give me a call when Dora the Explorer and Bob the Builder get prime time slots on a major network.

I meant more as in, why would WWE waste a PPV slot with lesnar vs a lacky more than anything.

It's known lesnar doesn't want to be traveling to TV taping too much so logically you'd expect them to book him in a match at a PPV that won't literally be just lesnar suplexing one of the wyatts for 5 minutes and then pinning him.

Well, clearly the company paid him enough money in his newest contract to do it because he's working more house shows and TV tapings, including Smackdown on the road to Wrestlemania. He'll surely be working one of Rowan, Harper or Strowman in a few weeks.

Yet, the UFC is doing great with a guy 5'9" "everyday guy" like Conor McGregor who oozes personality and charisma.

You know... the things that actually matter in a "sports entertainment" climate like WWE. Personality and charisma.

Guess who else kids cheered for? Daniel Bryan, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, etc., all guys who are/were not taller than 5'10" but oozed personality and charisma (in Bryan's sense, was a guy who people recognized was ****ing awesome and deserved way better).

So why is DB still the most over guy when he just shows up? Dude doesn't look cool at all. Punk never had the look either.

Who are these people who actually care about height? Do some people watch wrestling with tape measure in hand, wondering aloud who is tall enough to cheer for?

Who else is doing the job to Reigns? Sucks that that's where we're at, but it is what it is.

Don't tell me Lesnar.

Ultima Lucha is on right now. :yo:

This was alright, even great at points. But it's amazing how much better Lucha Underground is.

At Some point you gotta let go, this is what WWE does now and for the past X number of years. It's a prime time Kids show, accept it and watch LU and ROH for your real wrestling fix ..

Pretty excited to see AJ and Owens though. And maybe Zayn with Owens soon too or maybe with them.

You know who the only other guy to win the title in a rumble match was? Ric Flair.

Nope, nothing suspicious there. No siree...

Not a fan of ROH kind of promotions. LU is an intruiging option though. I'll likely never completely stop watching WWE but that's only because I'm a mark for this forum.

It's useless debating that...I mean, like you pointed out, McGregor is a huge draw for the UFC. Daniel Bryan has literally SHOWN us all that we live in a society now that doesn't "ooh! ahh!" at the "big guys". These guys CAN be draws, but not with Vince's backwards ass thinking. Especially in Pro Wrestling, where a lot more fans are more knowledgeable today than they were even just 10 years ago. They/we want to be entertained, and it's not happening. Lesnar is entertaining, because he's a spectacle. Reigns is not entertaining. He can't talk, he can't work, he's got zero charisma.

Different world now, but Vince hasn't caught up. Now, we have HHH winning the WWE Title at the Rumble, heading into WM32 to (likely) main event a match with a guy that they've gone through painstaking measures to try and get the fans to like him--but they/we just don't want to. For a company that likes to toot their own horn and say "we listen to our fans!", they sure doe a s**t job of showing it.

This X100000

Nick Bockwinkle was a damn good worker and could talk. Dont remember too many kids who wanted to be him.

Superstar look trumps workrate

I don't know maybe chalk it up to me being a weird kid but when I was little I hated Hulk Hogan and my favorite wrestler was the million dollar man.

McGregor has also been smashing top fighters in a legit sport. He could ooze a sea of personality, but he would be another loser with a big mouth if he didn't have a KO streak, and he will not be a huge draw after it ends. Winning is a draw in MMA, it's a different animal (but not so different, so an average looking popular guy like Ambrose or Owens could do wonders if he ever won the title).

The thing about wrestling is that there is no predicting how somebody will get over. Good example was when I started watching again in 2002. I got one look at Brock and I instantly became a mark. His look was just perfect and I didn't mind that he wasn't a great talker.

Then again there are guys like Test and Roman who look like a million bucks but I just get bored to tears by them. Wrestling is weird.
