I'm fine with this for the Pens. Seems like fair value.

Some posters here gotta face the reality that it's over. We won't be adding decent roster players to help Sid. It sucks, but it is what it is.

I guess that report is true, and Dubas wants to tear it down with only Crosby left.

Figure they get a first round pick and roster player (for cap) when they send Malkin to his destination of choice.
Pettersson should get a first at the deadline.
Letang is worth his contract, but they'll have no trade leverage given his NMC, term, and limited number of potential fits.
Moving Karlsson would probably require three-team gymnastics and net a paltry return.
Rust should be moved this summer when his trade protection expires. No idea what he'll fetch.
Nobody will pay for Rakkel or Graves.
Jarry will be bought out.

Someone will trade for Rakell. He's still a good top 6 winger.

I think Letang might work for Montreal, they do need some more vets.

I'm a Leaf fan but just my observation, they need more vets there. Letang? Not sure he'd go from a bad to a worse situation.

So we're trading with Washington and we're dealing the only offense at-all in the bottom 6. Lol.

Not sure why you wouldn't just hold him to the deadline at this point. He's a deadline guy all day. Bizarre. Or maybe it isn't for this lot.
Sell now tank the Pitts picks.

Definitely traded for less than fair value

But I think this is more of a case of taking care of a team guy and putting him in an ideal position in a spot he wants to be as opposed to maximizing return

Whether that is best for the Pens moving forward or not

This is slightly less than I was expecting but it’s still not bad. Was thinking he’d get a 2026 2nd from a contender, instead he got a 2027 3rd from a rebuilding team plus a 5th.

Think this also clears a spot for Poulin on the full time roster, which I like.

Caps are rebuilding? lol good one brother.

It fixes a problem 3C position for us on the cheap, whilst keeping the spot open in future for the in-house player we'd rather play there. Lapierre has stunk the gaff out this year after showing a lot last year.

When’s the last time the Penguins and Capitals traded with each other?
It's rare but not unprecedented. Jagr, of course.

They are much more likely to pick up one another's former players via free agency. Orpik, Eller, Niskanen, Gonchar, Lang, Cooke, Bradley, Hagelin, Berry, Fehr... Larry Murphy and Hatcher if you go back far enough.
