His base salary for 2025 is $16 mill with a $2 mill roster bonus, so $18 mill in real money due in 2025. The roster bonus guarantees week 1 of the 2025 league year. Base salary not guaranteed.

Since the top CB make $25 mill aav. $18 mill is a solid price for Lattimore next season. Something Wash should be able to work with. But, like any high caliber player, it's a matter of whether they are content with the contract or would be looking for a redo to get guaranteed money for 25 and 26.

He isn't a rental
That's never a guarantee as the player could hold out for a new contract. As mentioned above, he's done his guaranteed money save for the $2 mill roster bonuses, which don't become guaranteed til the first week of the new league year.

Bit leery of what we gave up, it's a lotta picks, but that's a good player right there
It's only 2 picks as we're getting back a 5th which is essentially only going to be about 10 picks lower than the 4th. Couple this with the fact it's our own 3rd and not the one we got from the Dotson trade and essentially we're going to end up with Lattimore, a higher 3rd, and a lower 4th for Jahan and a late 4th.

I'll take that all day long. He's got two non-guaranteed years left so he can essentially be cut at any point for no dead cap. Even if he's struggling to stay healthy, the knowledge and experience he has can only be good for BSJ, Mikey S and Forbes.

Nothin' but love for Marshon. Two of my favorite moments, both interceptions against the Eagles. Maybe good omen since they play twice. All the best. Hope it works out.

So far, max return has been a 3rd.
No one really in their max prime to warrant a lot more in return.

Last season, saw Sweatt go for a 2nd. L. Williams (with 95% salary retained) landed a 2nd and 5th. Chase young for a 3rd.

I can't remember the last player to get a first at the deadline. Maybe Bradley Chubb?

Look at the ages of these guys who have been moved. Older WR in Adams, Cooper (years of exp), DHop.
Guys at the tail end of their 2nd contract and into their non guaranteed years.

Like you mentioned Chubb, he was coming off his rookie contract, so there is more prime years ahead of him. And at DE, that is a premium position.

Well, even Ridley a couple years back went for a 4th and 5th. Hockenson for essentially a 2nd. Roquan Smith a 2nd and a 5th. Even CmC was only 26 when he was traded and didn't fetch a first.

Hockenson another guy coming off rookie deal so needed to get paid. Not a premium position. Smith, same. LB not a premium position these days. CMC, injuries the prior couple of seasons.

IMO, Raiders overpaid for Adams. Was going into contract 3.

I mean usually guys get traded if they're not going to be resigned. LB is still a pretty premium position, but only for certain schemes. For Baltimore and even for Washington it matters.

Adams wasn't a deadline deal. There are lots of guys who've been traded for too much in the offseason. Jamal Adams comes to mind.

Main reason the returns are high are typically:
1) time left on the rookie deal, aka Adams and Fitzpatrick.
2) premium position at the end of rookie deal. DE, OT like Chubb, Tunsil, or elite WR.

Then it begins to drop off after that.
