I watched Slav's olympic goals, I wouldn't make too much of those stats for bragging rights.. not one NHL goalie in that 5 goal output, really hard to get a read off of that performance. He has a nice little snapper, but.. who on earth are these goalies?

I'm assuming many of the other draft-eligible players scored on NHL goalies this year.....

I don't care who they pick, with Wright I worry a bit about the lack of goals this year vs his age 15 season but I don't know the team at all. If that's who they pick then I hope he ends up around a Suzuki which would be huge. I wasn't at all impressed with what I saw from him in the 1 game but anyone can have a bad night. I think it's closer then some want to pretend as clearly several posters here have made it personal because of how others are acting. For me it's leave the emotion at the door and just draft the one you think will be the best in 4-5 years.

I do like Cooley and if pushed maybe I would lean towards picking him because of the speed, skating, playmaking but would have some concerns over goal scoring, and perhaps being more fancy then effective, kind of like a better Drouin at worst. Granted I haven't seen that much of him but more then I have seen of Wright or Slaf. I do like that he's going to Minnesota and would hope that if they picked him they would leave him there for a year and see how it goes.

Slaf is very interesting, I wouldn't mind it if we picked him, to me he seems like the biggest gamble where you could really hit one out of the park if all goes well which of course doesn't happen that often but if it did for a organization that clearly has a major lack of size plus skill at forward. So to me he's a bigger need. I would worry about his Liiga production a bit and not sure how strong his ankles are with the way he skates but that can be fixed of course.

Nemec/Jiricek I have to admit I was dead set against taking a blueliner this draft but with the little i've seen of both I could live with it. With Jiricek I look at getting another Seider type D that you hope can be a top pairing D and Nemec I need to see more of to say but he did end the season well. If they wanted Jiricek perhaps they would trade down but I doubt that happens.

Gauthier is someone I never hear about but wonder if the Habs would consider him at 1st OA due to him being a big bodied center that can shoot the puck well. I think he goes higher then many seem to put him. I wasn't overly impressed with him in the little I saw. To me Nazar was the most impressive but this team does badly need someone like him. I just wonder if he's closer to 1st OA then most would think. I could easily be wrong and I wouldn't do it but i would be surprised if he doesn't go top 5 as long as all those teams see him as a center which I see him as a winger from just a few views.
If Habs are considering taking Cutter, why not trade down to 4th or 5th? Flyers pick. Get quite an asset in return

I might be wrong here...but I get the feeling reading Grant McCagg's tweets that he really like Slaf.
I get the feeling he has a Shane Wright dart board.

He's going off again today...

Slaf performance at the world is great even if he put up his points against weaker teams. Those teams were still better than the teams in the chl... but its a small sample size.

Wright performance in the ohl is concerning but its still not bad. Just not stats that you expect from a first overall pick. I think there is no sure homerun in this draft. The best player from this draft will probably not be one of those two when its all said and done.

Will see what happen at the draft. Happy that the habs are drafting first but its not a good draft to have a first overall pick.

It’s a f***ing 2 on 3 for the opposition. Grant is an absolute moron.

I’d venture to say that North Bay could have beat France and Italy.

Man watching Slaf Olympic goals.. what was his shooting percentage? Seemed like anything he threw at the net went in.

Definition of a hot streak.
I read something like 30%...

His Liiga shooting percentage was 5.6% in the regular season and 4.3% in playoffs for a comparison.
