Slaf could play on a line with Caufield and provide size, protection and physicality on his line.

Anderson will not always be there and we should probably trade him sooner rather than later for futures as his value is high.

He would provide size but he won't provide protection or physicality. Slafkovsky is not a mean or physical player. I don't think I've ever seen him lay a big hit and certainly never purposefully tried to make someone feel pain

didn't vote. i don't follow prospects that closely, it's not my thing. but I do trust that Hughes and Gorton will make the right pick, whoever that will be.

i will say though, from skimming this thread, that the highest floor on Wright seems quite appealing. i'd love for us to land a 'sure thing' for once, instead of a project or big swing or whatever.

He could develop that

That's your opinion. If you can't accept the simple fact that your opinion might be wrong we don't have much to discuss anyway.
of course it is his opinion just like you have yours and I have mine. About 90% of people who voted agree with him. He is in the overwhelming majority so it is more likely that your opinion is wrong.

Not saying I'd take him ahead of Wright (or even Cooley) but Slafkovsky is not a project like KK was. Not even close.
By project I meant that his stats looks subpar while some other prospects had better offensive production than him. Not saying he's a bad prospect by any means but that a guy like him wouldn't be able to come in right away in our lineup unlike Wright who's probably be slotted on the 3rd line right away.

Granted I only watched youtube videos of Slafkovsky but Wright looks more like a pro right now

Why? Getting a late 1st round pick is not worth swapping #1OA for #3OA. Quality over quantity.
It depends on which player the Habs prefer. If they prefer Cooley over Wright it might make sense to trade down but if the Habs prefer Wright it probably doesn’t.

Going to be a long month left, to discuss this guys................just a thought, someone's opinion is just that....Opinions are NOT right or wrong..............they are just opinions.

Everyone should be open to the information provided about the 3-4 kids available at the top. Cases can be made for each.

What I will say, is the consensus is Wright.........and our fan base seems to agree.

HuGo are on this............

I always smirk when i read about Shane Wright defensive game or high floor.

In my opinion, those are bonuses. His offensive ceiling is what entice me. He has absolute offensive tools. He is an elite connector to his teammates and he is very efficient in a give and go style. An absolute transition beast. Powerful skater and terrific shot.

I think he could end up being Team Canada 3C behind McDavid and MacKinnon.

That's the thing, people are 100% underestimating Wright's offensive upside. Wright's offensive game is based on efficiency. It gives people the false impression that what he's doing isn't special, or even ''pfft, I could have done that.''

No, no you couldn't.

The kid models his game after Bergeron...............think about that for a minute.
He as a kid, already knows you have to play 200ft game. Mcdavid doesn't even do that.

No, he wont be McDavid in the ozone, but he has committed to following his coaches plan, to play a 200ft game, all the while having a very good offensive output. His coach was glowing about his talent, and his leadership.

Articles have been written over and over, you have to build from the C position guys, Suzuki and Wright are a very nice pair down the middle.

People on here think they're smarter than GMs and then propose the dumbest shit I've ever read.

Why would Arizona trade the 3rd + for our 1st? They'll tell us to f*** off and take whatever center we want and take the remaining one.
That's why I literally said: IF SOMEHOW.Of course it will take incentives in order to pull it out. So no I don't think I'm smarter then an NHL gm cause God knows how smart these guys are...But since it's a discussion board, I thought it would be nice to share what I would like to happen if possible.of course and sorry for insulting all those smart GMs out there.

Here
Again, the only problem I have with this whole debate is this; “Wright doesn’t produce”. I don’t have him first for “my” pick, that’s Nemec, but if you want to take a dig at Wright and you come up with “He doesn’t produce offensively” you are wrong.

Look, figure out the production of his peers beforehand. How does he rank against them. The back 2/3 of his season, did he progress or not not. Why was the first 1/3 only 1ppg, etc.

For what’s available on the forwards side of things in the 2022 draft, he does produce offensively. A lot. More than any other available forwards. Go ahead and challenge his staking, his involvement or lack of it, his intensity. The production is not one of those problems.

I just don’t see it when it comes to his lack of production. Not personal to any poster, just that as a whole the production side seems factually bogus.

I don't follow prospects or know exactly which one is best so my opinion isn't worth that much, but personally I just hope they pick Wright. It's very unlikely that he will bust, and it would provide us with 2 top centers for the first time in over 20 years. We would actually have a center 1a and 1b, while we spent years with 2a and 2b. I think it's just a stronger core to build a new competitive team. It's easier to find wingers that will produce with a good center than a center that will produce with a good winger, and it's better to have 2 strong lines than 1 very strong one for the playoffs where 1 line teams nearly always lose when they meet a team that has a strong shutdown line.

I'll trust that we'll get a good player regardless, but I'd really appreciate that we go for the consensus #1 center with the #1 pick.
