Can't vote, I don't know enough.

Gun to my head, I go with Shane Wright and hope for the best.

Same here. My head says Wright. As I read somewhere, he seems to have both the highest floor and the highest ceiling.

My gut says Slaf or Cooley would be better here. Mtl fans won't be fond of Wright's lackadaisical style.

How many questionable performances witnessed, endless excuses advanced before people realize that Wright is the proverbial emperor who has no clothes?

God this is so hard.

If I'm being very honest, and I'm scared to even say this, but I'm a bit worried with Wright's compete level.... and that flowed into the testing and his answers on the testing.

Cooley had great answers and his testing backed that up, but the US program focuses more on weight lifting, etc.

But Wright took 1 year off... did he not focus on working out?

Idk.

And then Slafkovsky, who could be a literal beast in the NHL.....
He said he did work out but he also added that it is not easy recreating game action.

Wonder how many of the 101 voters for Wright have seen his lackadaisical style in action... it will be a surprise for many I suspect.

Don’t worry about Shane’s compete level. That is zero concern. They said the same about Suzuki in the OHL. These players are always in right position so it doesn’t look like they are trying… that is of no concern for me and Shane .

I go Shane Wright all day long. I actually think everyone having low expectations for him will be the best thing for him. Habs fans are delusional and want a prospect to be dominant in their first game, so this may actually work as oppose to KK and Galchenyuk where habs fans were stupidly unrealistic with them

Shane will be an excellent player for the habs

The combine is over.
All the informations that can be gather is on the table.
From what we know, dinner, interviews and general consensus, there's really seems to have only three in the race to be the 1st overall.

Shane Wright

Logan Cooley

There's no more hockey left to play before the the draft so it's time to make the final decision.
Wright is the next Jaques Lemaire for habs. If you are too young to remember Lemaire. Look him up. That is Wright. Pick him.

It'll probably be Wright, but I dunno something tells me Cooley is going to be really good.
I think he’ll be a worse version of Clayton Keller. Funny because he’s probably going to end up playing with him.

What are you even talking about?? KK and Galchenyuk were top 3 picks, it’s normal to have expectations for them, the problem there was that they were the wrong picks not that Habs fans ruined them with their expectations. The goal is to have a great player not one where we need to lower our expectations so that he is able to meet them.

Are you telling me Habs fans aren’t ridiculously unrealistic?! Listen, I’m a habs fan too but cmon dude…even prospects like Roy and Farrell are being hyped up to be top 6 forwards and they were in the 4th/5th round.

Caufield has one bad game and it’s total panic. There is absolutely ZERO composure about the habs fan base at all. It’s incredibly emotional and irrational takes

I'm too lazy to search for myself.

Does anyone remembers how KK, another late riser, did at the combine, both athletically and interview wise, compared to Slaf, the current late riser? And also how the combine impacted KK positively or negatively, compared to Slaf?

I'm a Shane Wrighter all the way, though I'd entertain the idea of trading 1st OA to ARI for 3rd OA and another nice asset (maybe 27 OA or 34 OA), in which case we get either Wright or Cooley at 3rd OA AND we get another nice selection at 27 or 34 OA.

They are but so are other fan bases. Go take a look at the Lightening and Oilers boards now.

I’m high on Roy but that’s another story.

2018 NHL Draft Combine: Test Results

KK did poorly it seems, don’t see his name much in the leaderboards. What’s interesting though is that a lot of the top performers didn’t amount to much so far. Also, Hillis and Gorniak did well and we ended up drafting them…
