I'm surprised it's only 20k, tbh.

It's Wrestlemania. It'll always sell well. Especially since tickets went on sale in September or October before anyone knew what the card would be. Also, even with 20,000 tickets remaining, there would still be like 70,000 people at the Stadium, I think. Not what WWE wanted when they booked WM32 in Dallas, but that's still a ton of people to watch a wrestling show.

If they're leaking it's around 20k, then it's probably closer to 30k. They obviously can't be trusted with giving accurate attendance information for this. It'll probably be a half-empty stadium and they will still say it sold out with 100k+ in attendance. lol

Yeah, this is the same company who swears up and down that they sold out the Silverdome at WrestleMania 3 but it's rumored they were about 20k short of that figure. They'll find a way to "sell out" Jerry World too.

Waiting for a terrorist threat that moves it to a smaller venue.

Isn't that what happened with WrestleMania 7? That was the year it was supposed to be at the LA Memorial Coliseum with a 93,000+ seating capacity but because of possible security issues dealing with Desert Storm and Slaughter's Iraqi sympathizer character it was moved to the LA Memorial Sports Arena with a capacity of around 16,000+. Wonder how much truth there was to that deal and how much was because they couldn't sell out the Coliseum?

Slaughter said there were bomb threats on the True Story of Wrestlemania doc. It's a bunch of bs. For one, they moved across the street. I don't really see how that would have prevented a potential attack. Business was on the downturn, Slaughter wasn't a draw, and fans saw through the cheap patriotic storyline.

They actually did sell out the Silverdome for Mania 3. It just wasn't 93,000. The real number is believed to be around 76,000. The actual WWE attendance record is for Summerslam 92 at Wembley Stadium with around 80,000. It will be interesting to see if they can break that record at Mania.

They started promoting 100,000 early. And then they used the "bomb threat"story as a cover when they had issues selling tickets, and moved it to the LA Memorial Sports Arena.

Fair point. I'm not just trying to be a dick and crap on the product, but the product has not been filled with intrigue for awhile now. The constant need to push Reigns and lackluster day to day writing is bad. I think it's more shocking they expected to sell that arena out.

Or how they "give" tickets away just to fill seats. Charities/etc. It's all a write off then.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have a charity suite and I always wondered if that's because people just don't feel like shelling out 10k+. Then the Pens can write it off at the end of the year.

They can also leave tarped the entire back part of the entrance instead of selling those tickets. Nobody will notice that or think it's unusual.

I read that it was originally supposed to be Warrior/Hogan II but Warrior wasn't doing as well as champion as they thought so they needed to do something else and went with Slaughter as a heel champion.

Just two years removed from the Batista fiasco, and they carry through with almost the same thing, just used HHH instead. Yeah...that'll sell tickets.

Yeah, but if I can get some beach time and away from the winter weather I'll make a week long trip out of it. :D

Exactly man, I'm in the same boat. I'd probably take like two weeks and just enjoy some sun. It's still typically pretty chilly up here by then.

I'm not too sure about that, it's possible though. Warrior had the same issue as Diesel. They didn't have any good heel opponents (except Rude). For whatever reason they didn't throw Savage at him until the end of his run. I'm assuming it's Hogan politics. But still the built a great program for Warrior/Savage that could have easily been for the title. The only thing I don't think would have happened though is the Liz reunion.

– Minneapolis originally won the bidding for WrestleMania 33 but it’s unknown why the change was made to Orlando. It’s possibly the renovation of the Citrus Bowl was a major factor.

This shows is almost sold out, as expected. The secondary market is very soft, so you can easily get a ticket at a fair price, so there could be empty seats if they can't move the tickets. Real capacity is apparently in the 84k range.

So ya. They can sell out a massive stadium and probably break the record for gate money.

Where do you get that it's almost sold out? For this story 20k tickets not sold is nowhere remotely close to a sell out.

Meltzer's show. He's getting his numbers from the actual venue.

The actual venue has a vested interest in making it seem like that as much as the company does. They just won't have as much of an interest to embellish the result. And almost is a vague term in this context as well.

Not the venue as in marketing spew, as in his actual sources in who work there who know the actual real numbers involved. Just like he reports every single time.

I know what venue you're speaking about. My point is still the same.

Ofc you know the venue. It's in Dallas. I'd be very confused if you didn't...

But you're saying that you don't believe the information reported by Meltzer, which he's gotten from his own sources inside the stadium that he clearly trusts. You don't believe the numbers, and as there is no other source that is even remotely as reliable or has a good track record, I can only conclude that you will not believe any numbers that are ever given to you. So I'll just refrain from posting anything more about them.

Of course not. The people who work for the venue have a vested interest in the success of its events. You act like Meltzer's sources have never worked him before. Did you even post what the number even was? Almost sold out is a vague term to use for something like this. They were almost sold out at Levi's for months...they never actually sold out either.
