YepDo you not know why they were under the cap before? Do you not realize why it was needed now? Do you know how rich the ownership of the Jets is?
This is my feeling as well. Hes somewhere between Vanek and Ovechkin. If you're a Jets fan you're definitely hoping he turns into the franchise, not just a goal scorer who provides nothing else.I think this offseason was a wake up call for Laine. He's not where he thought he was and it pissed him off. He either now wakes up and destroys the league, or sleepwalks through this deal and becomes a one dimensional PP specialist (but a great one). Will be interesting to see what he does.
You guys overpay and land 1 free agent and now think players want to be there?
I think Scheifele grew up a Red Wings' fan...What NHL players from the Toronto area (and a lot are) wouldn't want to win a cup with Toronto? Ask me a real question.
Winning breeds winning. You don't think it hasn't already crossed McDerpids mind? Mark Scheiwiffty has probably fantasized about it a few times too!
It reminds me more of the Morrissey deal Chevy just pulled off, But you go with your own agenda! To think the perception was that he would get this huge offer sheet getting Marner money.
Winnipeg stood their ground and got a killer deal. Reminds me of when the Habs signed Subban to a bridge deal. They wanted Subban to show more before commiting the big bucks. In the end he got paid a few years later, but it seems like they never liked what they saw and Subban got the money cause the owner wanted him to. I see something similar with Laine(if they don't like him now are they gonna like him in 2 years?) but they will trade him instead of paying him big.
He needs to pull his pants up and get to work...................................................................................................................................................... oh no, that's AM!To me its all on Patrik. He said, he wasn't used properly, and threw players and coaches under the bus.
He has to apologize and then work.

You compared him to Subban, In what world is Laine’s situation even comparable?agenda? geez some fans are pretty paranoid. I don't have a dog in the fight one way or another. I don't even know if you think I'm anti-Jets or anti-Laine whatever wars you wage into your own mind. But i'm rooting for both so not sure where you are coming from or what you think I meant.
Same back injury, too?Same consistency
Unlikely. With the 3 year contracts the team in control of the player always opts for the 1 year deal, so the player is still RFA when the deal expires. If Laine files for arbitration after this contract, Jets will likely opt for the 2 year deal at that point, so it's extremely unlikely Laine would file twice for arbitration in any scenario. He'll still get to walk at the same time, but if he wants to become UFA as fast as a possible, he pretty much has to sign a 3 year deal after this one, or file once for salary arbitration and then he has to just accept the last QO from Winnipeg. In this scenario - Laine could simply elect to go to arbitration twice, and walk as a UFA at the same time the three year deal would allow him to.
They announced that Patrik Laine is this year's Jets bobblehead like five minutes after. Unlikely.Sign and trade deal?
I don't get this arbitration obsession... the contract is built in such way that the QO after it for 21/22 will be $7.5M. And if he signs it, then the QO after that for 22/23 is also $7.5M. And barring lockout in 22/23, there's his seven Accrued Seasons and he's UFA eligible. If you want to get to UFA as soon as possible, that's a no-hassle way.Unlikely. Probably. Have to keep him happy If they want him to stay. No misusage.Man that would be great for the Jets
But the season doesn’t start i december?I said after December. Starting Dec 1st his goal-scoring pace for the rest of the season over 82 games comes out to 12 goals a year. A player of Laine's caliber scoring 12 goals in a season is catastrophically bad.
They also predicted the Jets would win the 2019 Stanley Cup ... How did that work out hahahaha I think their crystal ball needs servicingThe Hockey News predicted that Laine would not be with Jets in 5 years. Hrm...
Even better then.Laine QO will be $7.5M, assuming that the 2nd year is all in Base Salary (and not signing bonus).
QO is based on the Base Salary of the final year under the then-ending previous SPC; 100 percent of it if it was over $1M, 105-110 percent if less than that.
Jets didn't want another year. This keeps him 2 years from UFA at the end. More importantly, if the Jets decide to give Laine a long term high value deal, the perfect timing for that in terms of cap space starts in 2 years.that high of an AAV for 2 years
I would expect at least another year.
