Bouchard has been a hot topic for a couple years now. Early last season I was hoping that they would trade Bouchard but under Coffey Bouchard really came on and shown himself to be an elite offensive dman and got his defensive game on track as well, not only in the regular season but in the playoffs against tough competition he showed he can play very well when it is hard.

This season seems to be a pretty consistent showing of Bouchards defensive liabilities and now that has the discussion going again, would you trade Bouchard?

No.

As an added bonus, I think he has chopped quite a bit off of his next contract with his play this year - despite showing he has an incredible level to get to when he is on (e.g. last playoff run).

Well if he's firm on 11M, then we would have to explore some options. I mean even a player like Rantanen got traded

If you allow your players outside of McDrai to sign to whatever they want, you're not helping the team either

probably not... but also depends on his ask on his next contract. If his camp is asking for over 10 million and not budging... then yes I would consider trading him.

Just remember... Tyson Barrie (who now can't even crack an NHL lineup) piled up the points on the PP here not too long ago. If Barrie could run this PP.. I'm confident we could find a replacement dman for Bouch as well to run the PP successfully if we traded away Bouch. (But not saying I am in favor of this...)

I wouldn't trade him but I also wouldn't sign him to anything more than about 8 million per.

His highs are high but his lows are at the molten core of the Earth. And this season he's been bad more often than good on most nights.

I, too, can get frustrated with his seemingly, at times, lackadaisical play and what seems to be almost too patient with the puck when in danger.

All that said, a resounding and hearty HELL NO to trading him. We have been begging in this town for years for an offensive rightshot D-man. You continue to work with him on his D but you do not and cannot replace a player like this.

My answer was yes. Only because you can trade anyone if the deal is right. Do I go out and pursue a deal for him? No. Simply because he is in a select group of defensemen that can be at or near a PPG.

That said if he wants stupid money, I consider it.

It depends on his ask...the term and also what the potential return might be.

As I said in another thread I would be in the Hell no camp if Bouchards lows werent so brutally bad. I am also perplexed how after 300+ NHL games he still has moments and even entire games where this is still an issue.

If his lows meant that he was just not impactful (invisible) that would be fine. Thats just not the case though...Bouchards lows are so low that he is a major liability when he is on the ice. Sometimes that can be an enitre game.
So I cant see how that wouldnt impact negotiations moving forward.
Thats why IMO Bouchard is definitely not an untouchable on this team.

Unless your name is Lemieux or Yzerman just about anyone can be traded, unless there is some contractual clause. Gretzky and Roy were both traded albeit for different reasons. Bouchard can’t touch any of the 4 I’ve mentioned, but chances are we won’t like the return.

All depends what's on the market really. With some time to reflect, Rantanen --> Necas and Drury is a semi genius move. Necas costs 6.5M next season as well. Even if he plays great, he's not costing 14M like Rantanen. The Avs can also add another 2C with their cap space. This is an all in move for this season and next season.

Bouchard is hardly untouchable. He's more of a merchant to McDrai than Rantanen is to Mackinnon and Makar and Rantanen was flipped for a better package lol

Good luck replacing him. Defence is hard to come by. Yes he makes brutal turnovers and has bad games sometimes but he’s a legit top 4 d-man on any team and even a top pairing on many as well. Take the good with the bad. It’s still a team game at the end of the day and every one makes mistakes.

If the team traded Bouchard we'd be spending another decade hoping we could have a player like Bouchard. He's practically the perfect Dman for this teams style of play.
The reason we were unable to find a stud Dman has to do with the GMs being Tambo, MacT, Chia and Holland. I guess we can cross Holland off the list cause he got us Ekholm

So 25 percent of people on here are not that smart or trolls.... hmm thought it was higher lol, maybe like the rest of the internet the crazy people are just the most vocal.

Trade Bouchard only makes sense if He demands is too high and you can get some young prospects and a top 4 RD as a package

I don’t get why fans say no with out knowing the offers on him.

I was always under the belief that Edmonton signed Klingberg as a trial run to see if he can be the pp guy incase Bouchard ask isn’t in the ball park

probably not... but also depends on his ask on his next contract. If his camp is asking for over 10 million and not budging... then yes I would consider trading him.

Barrie and Bouchard aren’t remotely comparable. Bouchard is one of the best 5v5 dmen in the NHL, something Barrie has never been good at.

Bouchards value here isn’t his PP play. It’s his 5v5 play.

People see Bouchard making the odd poor mistake defensively but ignore the fact that inspire those occasional mistakes he still puts up results that are among the elite of the elite.
