It's neither of the above, it's actually Barzal+33 for Reinhart. But Hall for Larsson was done by the same mouth breathing Pejorative Slur, and resulted in an MVP for a mediocre player. At least Buffalo can still hope to hit a home run with that 1st rounder.

All I've gotten from this thread is that there have been worse trades than the ROR one not too long ago even.

Reinhart trade
Forsberg trade
O' Reilly trade

all worst than the Hall trade

If PC got to be GM in Edmonton for as long as Mike Milbury was in New York, I can't imagine how long the list of bad trades would have been. Surely he would have traded away an entire all-star team, let alone a cup winning team.

The trade Toronto made to get Kessel. It's not who Boston choose with the draft picks they got, it was making the trade for him period that was so horrible.

Atleast at the time of the ROR trade the other players were solid. Everything that could go wrong with that trade did. Blues exploded (pick was 31st, could have been mid 1st), Berglund left, Sobtoka crashed and Thompson stalled

GR trade is way worse IMO because at the time, it was clear Reinhart was on a one way train to bustville, and also that the 1st and 2nd round of that draft was pretty stacked. There was zero upside

Reinhart trade. Easy. That was inexcusable immediately when it was announced.

Hall for Larsson at the time wasn't great, but Hall wasn't playing like he is now at that time. He hadn't hit 70-80 for a few seasons and was often injured. It aged very poorly however.

Dallas somehow got Vezina nominee Ben Bishop from LA, for a 4th round pick.

Sure, he was a pending UFA at the time, but it worked out very well for the Stars.

Kessel made the best of the situation, leading Toronto in scoring each and every year he was here.

Not his fault the team wasn't run properly and they couldn't build around him.

When Tyler Bozak is your top line center, you're not getting very far.

I don't blame Kessel for anything.

He plays his style of game, one which I don't like but that is neither here nor there, and that is what he is all about.

I think the trade was horrendous because based on his style of play the return the Maple Leafs gave up was absurd. If the Leafs didn't know what they were getting that is on them. Hence, it was a stupid trade by Toronto.

All they did was trade for his rights. Shoudn't even be brought up in this conversation.

Why not?

A 4th round pick is a fairly cheap price for a Vezina-calibre goalie. And obviously if they trade for his rights the intent is to sign him, which they did that very day. At least IIRC.
Because LA was either getting nothing or a 4th. This wasn't a lopsided trade at all. LA got something out of nothing.
