Worst takes you've had on this site?

Too many to count.

I was really high on Marek Zagrapan back in the day and thought that he should have been drafted before Kopitar in 2005 (though I liked Kopitar, but I had Zagrapan in my top 10). I also really liked Bourret from that draft - if he had taken his conditioning more seriously I think he could have been a star. He had 50 points in 78GP as a teenage rookie in the AHL, and then just declined steadily from there.

I was looking through some old threads I commented on and came across one where I said Zacha was "pretty close" to the same value as Timo Meier.

While this was said after Zacha led the team in scoring, looking back it's obviously a truly horrible take.

Anyone else want to own their horrible takes?
I'll do my bad take now: I think Zacha's contract with 4,75M cap hit will turn out to be a higher value contract than Meier's 8,8M.

Idk if I ever posted it here, but at one point I thought Olli Maatta was going to be one of the top defensemen in the league, at least offensively. He had some flashes early in his career that looked like he could really develop into a top guy.

Granted, he had some various other things going on that didn’t help his development, but it just turned out to be an awful take.

Ill let you know when I have one.

But seriously Im sure I have plenty I forget but 1 of my early ones was I thought Klesla would become what Weber eventually became. He along with Nash are the main reasons I became a Blue Jacket fan

Bourret looked like a sure fire top 6 PWF though IMO. Guess you’re a Q fanboy too.

I thought Kabanov would be a huge sleeper with the right coaching.

He always turned into a 99 overall in NHL 2002. Him and Ron Hainsey.

Not sure I ever claimed it here but I still think that T.J. Galiardi has what it takes to be a first liner in this league.

I own two Avs sweaters - Chris Drury and T.J. Galiardi - bought in early on both.

Yeah if he could have just kept himself in better shape there's no doubt he'd have been a 30+30 PWF. But he was legitimately 30 lbs heavier than he should have been as a teenager, and that never got better. He was like 5'10 220. He did shed some of it but he should have been around 185.

The fact that he skated as well as he did with that much extra weight was pretty impressive.

There was a thread about Ovi and the goal record around 2014 and I was one of the 1st posts saying like it was impossible his goal scoring will regress or something.

That’s a big el oh el in 2023.

Same. "Players just don't age like that", or something. Kudos to him!
