Goalies can always rebound, and take over games, playoff series, and even entire seasons. Shesterkin has done this before and could do it again.

Elias Pettersson appears to have checked out after getting paid. Unless someone lights a fire under his ass to get him going again, that contract will be an albatross until it expires.

Pettersson ainec. Shesty is playing for a garbage team. Petey is the reason that the Canucks are garbage now. They weren't garbage when his head was screwed on right.

Imagine if he gave a damn - JT would be happy and have stayed, Hughes would want to stick around, they'd be comfortably in a playoff spot with 100 point Selke Petey. Instead they have 52 point pace mentally checked out Petey, 100 point JT abandoned ship and Hughes has 1 foot out the door. They're staring down the barrel of a rebuild. So are the Rangers but the difference is its not Shesty's fault they suck, and they had multiple conf finals runs thanks to him.

Despite all that, it's not too late. Canucks in a wild card spot, could go on a run but they need Petey to pull his head out his ass and get some passion back for the sport.

Goalies are famously enigmatic. Public opinion on the shesterkin contract is probably go between worst contract to worth every penny several times back and forth.

EP… who knows with that guy. Some rumours say he has a permanent knee injury or something?

I’ll take Shesterkin if have to. Neither by choice obviously.

The 5 goals he gave up yesterday he didnt really have a chance on and his team isnt good.

Pettersson Just floating around is on him. If he's hurt, sit out and recover because youre just as useful in the lineup at this point.

Honestly, I don't see how the Canucks are that much better than the Rangers on paper, if at all.

Both teams probably overachieved last year. The Canucks have the best player between the two teams in Hughes, but Fox is also among the best defensemen in the League, and I don't see a big talent advantage overall for VAN compared to NYR.

They traded the man who wanted to light that fire me thinks.

People saying Shesterkin playing behind a terrible team but they were arguably one of the favourites going into this season.

It’s not permanent, but he needs to rest it longer than an offseason then try to build strength back into it which would require him to do that well into a middle of a season. Because that means he would have to take himself out for a long time and alternatively it’s a condition you can play through— you get this slow version of him. Unless he rehabs it properly, there’s not a lot of confidence he can get back to his game.

Gotta wonder why they wouldn't just shut him down for the rest of the season at this point.

He's clearly hampered and the Canucks aren't doing anything with this version of him.

He likely still wants to try and play?

Both were good and then went bad. Both have the potential to rebound. Neither of these contracts will be talked about in a couple years with the cap increases as they will be likely in line with everyone else.

EP just needs to get his injuries in order and actually do something with them instead of trying to fight through them.
