Worst Analysts/Commentators

I don't watch enough hockey outside of the Coyotes to make a comment on others. I understand that regional networks should be "homers" in the fact that they are commentating for a particular team, but I love it when the national broadcasts are partial. When the San Jose guys wind up on NBCSN, I feel like they do a pretty darn good job.

The guy from Boston is horrific. Even if I was a Boston fan I would want to punch him in the face if I saw him in the street.

Strader is amazing, wish he got more gigs than he does.

All that said, I don't really like the Coyotes guys. Nash is funny. Most people might not like his words, such as "pumpkin" for head, etc. But I actually enjoy the mild humor involved. McConnell is alright, but we were spoiled with Strader. He's just one of the best if you ask me.

Inb4 Jack Edwards and Doc, both of whom I enjoy.

It's sacrilege for me to say this, but I actually think Edwards is a great announcer if you can get away from all the over-the-top Bruins homerism. He calls a good game and knows pretty much every player, but he ruins it with his cheerleading.

Darren Pang "er" (analyst) bring no value whatsoever to any discussion regarding hockey.

Pang is worth having on just for those hilarious intermission bits where they stick him in the net with a blocker and trapper.

The worst is Glenn Healy. He just comes across as a small, hate-filled man. I really wish Sportsnet would dump him.

Both members of the Penguins crew are embarrassing, the Pens were my 2nd team for a long time and I couldn't stand them even though I wanted the Pens to win. Steigerwald goes without saying and enough keystrokes have been devoted to him, but Errey is almost as appalling. There was one game this year where the opponent scored a goal on a play where he preceded the puck into the zone, but it wasn't offside because the Pittsburgh player had played it back in. These guys were aghast that it wasn't ruled offside, and were shocked that the Pens weren't issuing a coach's challenge, even after 5-6 replays that clearly showed what happened. It wasn't until a later stoppage in play, ten minutes later, when someone from their production crew told them what happened that they corrected themselves.

So there you go. You have a man who played 895 games in the NHL who doesn't know how the offside rule works. SMH. These guys are the main reason Pens fans are so notorious for blaming the refs all the time.

Glenn Healy. just cause the balls it takes to suck as bad as he did for us and, then criticize other plays as much as he does. Also he sounds like he doesn't know what the hell he's talking about.

Mike Milbury, just everything about the guy annoys me. The way he looks, dresses, talks, literally every little thing he does just irritates me.

Who Rick? Haha I think he's just old and gets really excited when sabres team scores. Not sure he's hardcore Homer though. I do find his goal call a little annoying though. I literally hate trying to watch the Eichel highlights and listening to his call, usually turn the volume off.

When I watch game highlights on nhl.com and i happen to watch buffalos I'm always thinking, what the hell? Who is this guy? I'm sure most sabres fans love him though

Hughson and Healey are a terrible pair. They just seem to pick one subject and then talk it to death. Wherever they are right now, they're probably telling someone how wonderful Dylan Larkin is.

I like Pierre Houde on the french RDS channel, unbiased and appreciates great hockey no matter which team is displaying it

The Avs announcers are painful. I try to watch the opposing team's broadcast more often than not. I do like Mark Rycroft though.

Glen Healy, PJ Stock, Darren Pang, and Pierre are all guys I can not stand to listen to.

I do like Doc though.

Jack Edwards is good. He knows that hockey is just entertainment.

I like when the Avs guy barely whispers "goal" when the other team scores.

But there's nobody better than this man:

Jeff Rimer and Jody Shelley are the absolute worst.

Shelley only sounds bad because he has to cover for Rimer all the time

routine for Rimer to call the wrong player 5-6 times/game

one time last year he called Jarod Boll making a play when Boll was on IR

Fact...........Legit

Wow - Seriously? Joe has homer attributes but to mention him in here is asinine.

How is it asinine. Michelleti sucks. The only group of people who Micheletti could possibly appeal to are people who have never watched a hockey game before and find it educational for the color guy to literally treat a TV broadcast like he's doing PBP on the radio. Micheletti's analysis consists of repeating what just happened on the ice in the most bland manner possible. He lends absolutely nothing to the broadcast, which is actually impressive since he never stops talking and frequently ends up discussing some pointless story that nobody cares about WHILE important stuff is happening, you know, on the ice.

Can't stand Joe B and Craig, saying this as a caps fan. Emrick isn't as bad. That's why I'll be watching Pens vs Caps on NBC.
