Worst Analysts/Commentators

Darren Pang "er" (analyst) bring no value whatsoever to any discussion regarding hockey.

Drew Remenda (game analyst) - he is a SN Oilers Regional game analyst and he has such a homeristic view it even annoys me as an Oilers fan. I know he used to to some analyst work for the Shark and wonder what their fans thought of him.

I am not a fan of Paul Romanuk (PBP HNIC). This might not be a popular opinion but I just don't think he is very entertaining or as knowledgeable as he should be, for someone with his experience.

Darren Pang is a color guy. Not an analyst.

As for worst. Whoever does the Buffalo games. The guy sounds like he's 130 years old but still going through puberty.

Feels nice to not see anyone vote Shorthouse or Garrett. :)

On the other hand, another common play by play guy for the Canucks, Romanuk, is absolutely atrocious. Never understood the hate for Pierre McGuire. I think he's quite funny and knowledgeable.

Thanks for the reminder... John Garrett... BAD!

Whoever does the buffalo games

Who Rick? Haha I think he's just old and gets really excited when sabres team scores. Not sure he's hardcore Homer though. I do find his goal call a little annoying though. I literally hate trying to watch the Eichel highlights and listening to his call, usually turn the volume off.

Avs play by play guy Mike Haynes still thinks there is 2 line pass in the NHL, enough said.

Eddie Olczyk

Big Chicago homer, even if Chicago's not playing, and he does a lot of nationally televised games. He also appears to think they have hired him to teach "kids" how to play hockey from watching his broadcasts.

In general, most people don't seem to like the higher pitched voices. Buffalo's TV guy and Tampa's radio guy come to mind.

After thinking about this, I kind of agree with you. Pang likes to talk about the players personalities and such more than the actual game of hockey. If he does actually talk about the game, he generally appears to be attempting to invent a new catch phrase. He's more of a reaction guy. I don't think he's bad to listen to, but perhaps it's so bad it's funny. :dunno: He's like a more likable version of Pierre McGuire. Both are chock full of useless information that is often, at best, indirectly related to the game they are commentating or the sport in general.

Paul Steigerwald wins. He's in a league of his own in terms of crappiness. Anyone else mentioned is simply not as bad as he is.

Edit: missed that it's about major network commentators and analysts. I dunno... Milbury gets way to cranky and HATES the Rangers with a passion. So maybe him. But I don't honestly hate any commentators or analysts like I hate Steigy.

I can't help but love Pang, though. He's a short little lovable, happy guy who is always making fun of his crappy NHL career as a mostly untalented goalie. His sense of humor is great.

No love (hate) for John Bartlett? Pure pain when he goes out of his way to (mis)pronounce foreign names. Drives me mad. "Yeedahdzee seckhaatch!". Yikes.

Above all, Jack Edwards and his yellow teeth take the cake. Was also watching the Pens vs. Stars game the other night, and man were those Pens announcers brutal. By the end of the game I was almost a Stars fan, due to my new found hatred for the Pens announcers.

Tripp at least knows what he's talking about most of the time. He's just really annoying and slightly creepy.

"[random player] is such a professional. I caught up with him at Starbucks today, and he talked about how he always tries to improve his game."

Paul Steigerwald W.O.A.T.

He's insufferable.. and Bob Errey belongs in a lunatic asylum. Some of the stuff that comes out of that guys mouth.. smh.

The Capitals' Joe B. I'm so happy he doesn't do NBCSN games anymore, it was unbearable. His voice is nails on the chalkboard. He thinks he's Doc Emrick and is clever. Instead he sounds idiotic. He sounds like the Doc Emrick wannabe that he is.

Beninati does play-by-play, not commentary.

Stated earlier from same quoted post about Pang being a color guy, not an analyst. Sometimes John Kelly likes to give Panger a chance to do play by play and he stumbles over his words until he starts laughing about it. Great color guy in my opinion though.

I'm a Devils fan, and I enjoy listening to Jim Jackson. I could stand to listen to him more if he wasn't Philly's commentator.

He is absolutely horrid. He 'gasms when Flyers touch the puck and based on listening to him there's no way that he's not slitting his wrist when the other team scores. He must be immortal. He also sounds drunk and slurry and has a weird cadence. He should get another job.

Jeff Reimer of Columbus doesn't have an offensive personality, but he's elderly. Like, elderly elderly.

He has no idea what is happening throughout the game.

I think Joe is probably the best in the business right now, honestly.
