Chabot looks like a great player.. not gonna take anything away from Him, But Chabot is a 97, McAvoy is a 98... Charlie can play again next year...

kid played in beast mode last night, that back hand pass was a beauty.

What a tremendous game. This is my fav tourney by a longshot and last night displayed why, only "issue" I have (and this stands for NHL too) is I despise and will never understand the justification of deciding the outcome of a game in team sport by a skills competition but no sour grapes, I got what I wanted to see, a heckuva great game.

What I expect now is papers/media types now hammering these kids and coaches for not being able to win at "our game" and I use that term with sarcasm. And that would be unfortunate

The kids shouldn't be critisized but Jankowski should be sent to Tuktoyuktuk and not be involved with Hockey Canada anymore. The system is flawed and 5 years with 1 gold 1 silver medal with him in control is unacceptable. Hopefully losing will put this at the forefront and they get new management that can pick the best players and team instead of guys that have been in "their" system or high NHL picks.

I cheered for the USA in this tournament (have a man crush on White) because it's good for hockey to have other countries win and they were so much more likeable. They have cut big name players the last couple years Brown/Debrincat/Tuch

I know hindsight is 20/20 but I'd love to have seen Strome (returnee) or Dubois type (high pick) cut one year. Who was the last Canadian that was cut as a returnee or top pick (after the draft) They seem happy just staying status qou ... I miss Marchand/Tootoo/Downie types out there causing hell. How was Gabrielle not invited to camp? I'm sure there are a ton of other guys that can play that role. Canada was diving all over the ice all tournament. Run the other team thru the ground kill your PKs and keep going.

Maybe in general the last 2/3 years I've been disappointed because that is the best talent/options Canada has/had to offer and next year will be different no matter who is in charge. But based on the philosophy and players they have at disposal I hope they go back to the drawing board.

Congrats USA was a very entertaining tournament!

doing everything I can to temper my enthusiasm but this is the first real chance I`ve had to watch him play and man, hard to not walk away impressed. Funny, in a few games I thought he was good, not great but man did he elevate when it was on the line last night.

Thought Lauzon had an ok game but still not sure Ducharme nailing him to the bench for far too long stretches was wise

He was the best player on the ice in the semi final too. Nice to see a Bruin prospect stand out among his peers at this tournament. First time I can remember? Last couple dmen I thought look this good was Rasmus Ristolainen and Alex Peteolangelo

nice to see indeed. I didn`t have the opportunity to watch the semi finals but fan reaction seemed positive.

The round robin is often a tough time to guage a player as some of the teams in this tourney play such a trap game it can make a smooth skating and skilled team look average and while I liked his game, the way he looked yesterday was miles ahead of the round robin games I watched

Came to play when it counted:yo:

Well hello stranger. Hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas and from my family to your's, all the very best in 2017..

Seems your team has been struck really hard with injuries. And seems you lose 2 at a time. Galenyuk and Deharneis {sry for spelling} went down I think a game apart and this week you guys lost 2 more along with Markov and Shaw..Man, that's a lot of good players. I think I'm safe to say the majority here hate to see any players injured, unless its someone like Matt Cooke who loves to hurt players. But I think he finally retired. Please correct me if he's still playing.

Take care Whitesnake..You're definitely one of the good ones around here. Cheers!!

Yeah, tough stretch, Galchenyuk and Markov might be coming back soon. But at least we get some points here and there. Once they all come back, it should go better. Just don't think that even with everybody healthy we have what it takes to win it all though.

Cheers to you and your family! Enjoy your team and your prospect pool....it's looking good. Carlo and McAvoy real soon on the back end. There is no way McAvoy isn't a Bruin next year.

Congratulations to Team USA on your gold medal performance. Congratulations to Team Canada on your silver medal performance. The record books will forever reflect those facts. Truly, there were no losers tonight. Both teams provided just an absolutely outstanding performance in representing their respective countries. Your fellow American and Canadian compatriots, and not simply hockey fans, are so rightfully proud of how you went about delivering a performance that far exceeded many expectations. What a show!

Not to sound like a broken record but this tournament never disappoints anyone who is a fan of hockey. That was as good if not better than many Stanley cup finals. What a display. For those who may not be familiar, both countries women's national teams have developed the same type of rivalry for many years now and it has provided very similar performances time and time again.

One question for the folks on the board: anyone interested in watching next years tournament when both countries will face off again in a preliminary round game to be played at an out-door game venue in Buffalo?

The 1st USA goal from McAvoy was one of the most confident plays I've every seen. He knew exactly what to do and it felt like he KNEW he was going to score as soon as he collected the puck. I've never been more impressed by a player's confidence on the ice than I was during that one play last night.

It was a player saying to his team "Stopping messing around and win!"

Also, I should note, I'm a passionate Northeastern fan. So this compliment is not a throw away!

The last part intrigues me

What do you make of Matt Benning. I keyed on him on the game and thought his skating from early DC was significantly improved

I can't believe Chiarelli traded picks 16 & 33 in a stacked 2015 draft for Reinhart who is in the AHL beaten out by this Boston castoff

Bizarreness

Not sure I like the USA flag face towels. Not sure wiping my face in the flag is Patriotic (not blaming McAvory, rather the people who made the towels)

No, McAvoy can't play next year by 10 days. he's a '97

The plus side of this is that while McAvoy is not eligible for the WJC's next year, because he's 20 in December, he IS eligible to play in the AHL (not that I think he will need it).

Yeah, doesn't really matter much either way, Charlie would be way too busy in Boston next year for this tournament if he were eligible.

As a college draft pick they could have signed him to play in the AHL this year, the age thing was never a factor.

Just listened to an excellent telephone interview featuring Charlie McAvoy on SN hockey central show with Mallard, Merrick and Stelllick. Can't possibly do it justice in a recap and hope somebody here on the board might be able to get their hands on the audio for all to hear. They touched on so many thinks from the tournament, the playoff rounds, the goal medal game and his future with the Bruins. A few highlights in no particular order for me were:

- as best he could get, he tried to relay what it felt like and what it meant to him and all his teammates to win it all.
- humble and always team first comments
- best game he has ever been a part off
- gave a tip of the hat to Chabot. It was pointed out to him that Chabot played over 43 minutes last night. CM wasn't sure what his were.
- when asked of he thought he might be called upon in the shoot out, he quickly said he would look the coach off and wait for him to a pick a teammate. Acknowledge that is not his his forte and others were much better suited for that role.
- when asked about joining the Bruins this year he said he had not given it much thought. Added he fully trusted the folks in the organization to help make those decisions.
- and so much more. Had I know is was being done I would have recorded it.

The 3 commentators went on about the unbelievable play and future for this kid. Merrick added he fully expects that he should and will join the B's at the end of this years college season. Merrick seems to be smiling the whole time when Charlie was speaking. The also talked for some time on the unbelievable stock of defence the B's have in the system and specifically talked about Carlo and MaAvoy being the core of the future Bruins D for the next 10 years. And on and on it went. Outstanding.

Well, Bergeron was MVP in 2005. Of course, by then he had already won the senior tournament gold and had a year of NHL experience under his belt, so I guess he wasn't a "prospect" at that point. But, he was a Bruin! ;)

Hate the shootout deciding a final but great win by USA. Hell of a game. How mad could I be when McAvoy was the player of the game. We've got a good one.
