When you watch Stancl play without the puck you watch what he is watching, he is always tracking the puck like a center and putting himself in the right position. When it's appropriate he goes to the board and I saw him literally almost always win the puck battle, and then generate a scoring chance out of the cycle this tourney. But he also had many many many many chances in the middle of the slot. He was dangerous in all the areas. He is smart. He is a tall player with a long stick and yet he has a deceptively fast release and a laser for a shot, he gets a ton on them for how quick they are off his stick.

Set aside what round he was drafted in. There is no chance he would last til the 4th round in a redraft.

How is his 2 way game? Does he backcheck? Is he physical?

Both, he uses his body well. Crunched a few guys hard. He backchecks completely, he blocks shots, PK.

I am obviously raving about what I saw from him, so I just recommend we watch him closely coming off this boost in the second half of his WHL season, and look for these attributes I'm talking about

He has great Hockey Sense, and his overall game has improved greatly over the past couple years. I really look forward to him playing for The Blues, along with Stenberg, Dvorsky, Jiricik, Lindstein, and the rest of their prospects who might get to The NHL level.

His goal against the US was an example of this. Anticipated the D was gonna throw it off the wall since he was pressured and came out of nowhere in the neutral zone to intercept the pass and bury it.

Ralph not looking great on that second Finland goal. The US is gonna blow this aren't they?

Finland is always so good at controlling the pace of play
US has just looked asleep so far. The finns always do this with their "bad" age groups its crazy

Finns played a great first period. Hopefully the US can push back in the second.
