I believe Stancl is now leading the tournament in goals and points.
Entering play he was leading the tournament in goals alone with 6 and tied in points with Dvorsky, ASP, Hutson and Perrault all with 9. Now he has the tournament lead alone in both goals and points

That goalie was super deep in his net. Still a nice shot though.

One thing I've noticed in watching a lot of the highlights (Which are obviously highlights for a reason) is that basically all the forwards we've drafted recently (Snuggy, Dvo, Stenberg, Stancl, Jecho) seem to have laser shots. Every single one of them seems to have better shots then our current players outside maybe Bolduc and Thomas. Obviously I'm watching kids, but jeez these dudes all seem to shoot the lights out. Does that track with everyone who watches this level more often? Does everyone shoot like this now, or are our kids a cut above?

I'm with you on this observation. These guys are ALL dangerous with any time/space in the ozone

Is that somehow a Blues prospect hat trick goal?
It's not the first time either

Stancl breaks in alone I think the defender got his stick on it at the last second.

Then Jiricek feeds Jecho in transition for a nice chance.

Then Stancl just misses again! Almost picked the corner again. Freaking sniper. This #21 is continually dangerous.

Finally makes a mistake gives up the puck and Eklund riings the pipe.

Then Lindstein feeds a rush that ties it and follows it up with a nice shot from the point

Stancl then Lindstein each with a phenomenal shift to start the third

Then Stenberg wins a tough board battle and gets multiple scoring chances. That's what I've been impressed with on Stancl, he is dominant on the boards

Jiricek almost shot the puck into Stenberg's head when Stenberg was fearlessly diving to block his shot. Jiricek is getting so confident shift by shift here, this is good

At the end of the gold medal game it doesn't matter who wins, they should just play Gloria and raise a Blues flag because the Blues won this tournament

Stenberg-Dvorsky-Stancl
Lindstein-Jiricek

Jecho has 2g 5a in almost a full 7 games and has been really really good and eliminated Canada gloriously and doesn't even make the All-Blues WJC team and that's not even controversial

Pekarick also 3g 4a iin 5g doesn't make the all Blues tourney team also not controversial

Ralph looked good so did Kos, they were both solid

That is not going to happen again for us for a long long time if ever, this is something to savor

Dvorsky, Stenberg, Stancl, Lindstein, all excellent, Pekarcik pretty good too

Next year Ralph, Jiricek, Jecho, Kos should be back, perhaps the first rounder later this year. Jecho following a Stancl trajectory would be sweet. Jiricek's confidence is growing with each game, these last two games he has looked his best so far. He was pretty noticeable tonight in a positive way
Ralph is a late ‘05 so won’t be eligible next year.

Stenberg didn't have a volume of chances but he had a couple of strong ones near the beginning of the third, he hasn't had that quiet of a second half of a game, just quiet relative to his own standards.

OMG a 14 round shootout. round 1 both saved, round 2 Stancl scores but ASP scores too. then we watched 20 straight breakaways saved, then Stenberg scored, then Sale scored, then two more saves, then Stenberg hits the post in round 14 and Sale wins it. Stenberg and Stancl got multiple attempts and Stancl also rang a post. Unreal

I'm not really sure how to project Stancl's future NHL role. Great tournament for him though. Definitely a top 10 prospect.

When you watch Stancl play without the puck you watch what he is watching, he is always tracking the puck like a center and putting himself in the right position. When it's appropriate he goes to the board and I saw him literally almost always win the puck battle, and then generate a scoring chance out of the cycle this tourney. But he also had many many many many chances in the middle of the slot. He was dangerous in all the areas. He is smart. He is a tall player with a long stick and yet he has a deceptively fast release and a laser for a shot, he gets a ton on them for how quick they are off his stick.

Set aside what round he was drafted in. There is no chance he would last til the 4th round in a redraft.
