GDT: World Junior Discussion

I'll pile on with the Drouin comments. The guy is something special - incredible skills with the puck. Shrewd move bumping him to the top line in place of Huberdeau.

It's taken a few games, but Spott has finally clued in with his lines. I'm definitely not his biggest supporter, but this should be the lineup for the rest of the tournament. Getting Jenner back has been a boon for the team. Really gives us a solid third line.

As I just said in the Prospects forum, watching Drouin makes the need to get a 1st rounder in a Lui trade that much more important. The kid is going to be top 5 but is playing like a top 2 in any other draft year. It's such a deep draft.

I really doubt we are getting a top-5 pick for Lu. If we can get a pick in the 6-10 range then maybe we can package both picks and move into the top 5?

Sorry, I wasn't stating we could get a top 5 pick with Lui just was explaining the depth in this draft. This maybe the closest thing to 2003, worst case 2008 draft.

This game felt like it should've been the gold medal game. Crazy that we'll have to do this all over again likely facing the Americans and the Russians all over again.

What a game from Jenner. No points, but man, he forechecks like a maniac.

Subban is certainly rewarding Spott for his faith at this point, too; another strong performance for him.

It amazes me how Nugent-Hopkins just makes it look like he's not even breaking a sweat, but he continues to pile up the points.

He honestly reminds me of Gretzky the way he's able to find open space all whilst the other team's gameplan is to mark him extra tight. RNH just makes it look so easy out there.

... No more hockey left today and now I have a litre of coffee flowing through my veins. Oh well. I knew what I was getting into.

heh...sounds like me. And I strolled into work at 830 instead of 8...oh well. Nice to be able to watch the whole game, and what a game it was!

RNH is something special. Been saying all week how much he quietly gets it done.

Definition of cerebral.

MacKinnon is of the same cloth.

Drouin has exceptional hands.

Ritchie was awesome as well.

I'd be more scared of the future Oilers if they would have drafted Murray over Yakupov. Yakupov doesn't impress me. Drouin is jumping into the first overall discussion. Big time.

A good game, I am with everyone else, Drouin is a stud. He seems to be playing a step above most out there.

Also agree with everyone on the Nuge, really like the post game highlights of him on TSN.

Was it just me or was this Murphy's best game. Saying that I still think our defense is so underwhelming. There just doesn't seem to be a guy out there that I feel really confident in. As said before a number 1 guy.

Subban is really playing well. Making Spott look smart.

Embarassed I had Finland in the Finals...surprised with all that talent they didn't even make the medal round.

Might be accurate to state this was is only good game of the tournament so far?

It scares me. I was really scared we would have to give him a regular shift when Weatherspoon left the game.

For a best game he still was suspect defensively, bailed out a few times, instead of making the play, and let in that terrible play on the Penalty shot. But despite that, made other good plays, didn't skate the puck as often, wasn't trying to do too much.

agreed.

Eberle
Hall
RNH
Yakupov
Schultz

or

Eberle
Hall
RNH
Murray
Schultz

2nd looks far more balanced to me. Thank god for Tambi

RNH is so beastly. It will be fun to watch these young Oilers develop into superstars, but hopefully Schneider will give em' hell for the next few years.

I wouldn't categorize it as a good game, but it was his best game by far. Especially after his trainwreck of an outting against the Americans.
Well I was trying to be nice.:D

Probably really wouldn't bother me if the coach hasn't treated him differently (playing favourites) than say other blueliners on the team (or players trying to qualify for the team).
