I would have even taken Sproul over Murphy if they wanted another offensive Dman but whatever. Go Canada go!

Sproul's injury and the fact he's not the fleetest of foot is likely the reason they selected Murphy (big ice). And the fact his coach knows what Murphy can bring probably helps.

Hard selections this year with the lockout. Should be interesting to see how it goes.

Team looks stacked .. So loaded up the middle

Projected line ups people?

Huberdeau - RNH - Scheifele
Drouin - Strome - Mackinnon
Hudon - Jenner - Ritchie
Camara - Danault - Lipon/Rattie

Rielly - Hamilton
Ouellet - Harrington
Reinhart - Murphy
Wotherspoon

Subban
Patterson
Binnington

I don't like splitting up Strome and Ritchie, but I think the team would benefit from it in this scenario,

Murphy has made the team for his offense and he is almost best served as a PP specialist for Team Canada.. What is the use of a PP offensively gifted player to be on the team if not for the PP?

I expect his ES minutes will be limited dependent of the score of the game.. Only if Canada is behind would I expect even strength TOI/g minutes to increase when it needs his offense.

Put him on the second unit. It doesn't make sense. Murphy and Hamilton both have huge shots. Rielly would be a better for Hamilton being a playmaking guy. Put someone like Oulette on there with Murphy on the second unit where he can be THE guy.

That top six is nasty.

Ritchie and Strome are likely to play together given their disgusting amount of chemistry from Niagra.

A lot of chemistry among teammates went into this years final selections for the coach up front.

Niagara IceDogs linemates Brett Ritchie and Ryan Strome, Halifax linemates Nate MacKinnon and Jonathan Drouin, and Barrie's Anthony Camara with his Colts teammate Mark Scheifele.

Hey guys,

Just wondering if any of you know of any bars that will be open and serving for any of the games at 4am, or specifically the 9am game on NYE vs. Russia.

I will be in Toronto with some friends and am unfamiliar with the area, though the laws state 11am-3am for NYE.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Saying Murphy sucked in the Canada/Russia summer series is stretching it. He was both good and bad in that series and I remember distinctly one game were he was prolly the best player on the ice between both teams.

Lol I don't remember that at all. I remember being on HF and people saying how crappy murphy was playing, and at times I agreed he was playing awful, but it wasn't in the sense were it was costing the team, but more just making bad decisions imo. Or wer just comparing him to rielly and he will always lose.

4am!?!? Oh lord :help:

In Halifax Bubba Rays is opening for the 5 a.m. games, not that I plan on going. So I imagine there will be some and that they will advertise it in the coming days.

The mass's seem to hate Murphy for whatever reason but he certainly was one of the very best players in one of the games (forget which one) and the TSN analysts even spoke on it after the game how dominant Murphy looked. I didnt say he was good througout but he definitely had his moments and wasnt nearly as awful as some of the haters say.

In the last CAN-RUS game, he was pretty good. My problem with murphy is that he runs around like a headless chicken with the puck, and sometimes it works, while other times he is forced to retreat. It never really ends up that bad because he knows when to retreat but its wierd to watch because you dont see a lot of efficiency in his game. He is a riverboat gambler with the skills that allow him to get away with it.

Its not that the physical tools arent there, its that he thinks the defensive game like Kadri....

No doubt. All I'm saying is I don't think Murphy deserved to make this team. Not if you look at his camp and not even if you look at the season he's had in Kitchener but again I say whatever. like i said, i can totally understand why he made te team. Just bugs me because I feel him making the team was never i question due to who the coach was. That's just my opinion. Hope he has a great tourney

Imo, forward lines
Huberdeau - RNH - Scheifele
Hudon - Strome - Ritchie
Drouin - Mackinnon - Rattie
Camara - Jenner - Danault

Steve Spott didn't feel like he had a choice. Jonathan Drouin was just too good, too skilled not to at least get a shot at winning a top-six forward job on Team Canada. So, there he was, the 17-year-old Halifax Moosehead, lining up beside Niagara IceDogs teammates Ryan Strome and Brett Ritchie on the second line during the team's first practice on Saturday.

Only Jonathan Huberdeau is ahead of him on the depth chart at left wing and, for now, he's ahead of Charles Hudon, a Spott favourite, who excelled during the summer's Canada-Russia Challenge.

Pretty good looking line up shaping up for us. Team chemistry as well.

Drouin and MacKinnon should be deadly on the power play. With the Mooseheads, it is almost a given they will score when they are up a man. I have seen the Moose play six times this year and these two are a joy to watch. Drouin is very smart with the puck and MacKinnon has amazing speed.

Another Red Wing 2nd round pick on the team, Leaf scouting staff again fails to find a 2nd rd pick that is worthy.

Why even say things like this. Sproul is NOBODY right now. The only person who has failed, is you... When it comes to posting anything constructive or of substance.

Go cheer for a team who makes you happy. Clearly, this one makes you a miserable person.
