I would say that the Finns are not 'underrated' here, but the U.S. are overrated. If you want percentage then I'd say that those both teams are pretty even... Finland plays a lot better than what's on the papers (star quality) and the U.S. plays a lot worse than what's on their papers.

If they never win anything why are they favourites? It is not like their roster is impressive or anything either so what makes them favourites in your mind?

I think that the Soviet teams of the 60's, 70's, and 80's were as deep and talented as any era in Canadian hockey. Of course they wouldn't have dominated as much in international tournaments had the NHL sent it's best players during those years.

Too bad pros didn't go to the Olympics until recently and too bad Russian hockey has regressed so much since the fall of Communism. As hockey fans, I feel we got robbed of an incredible hockey rivalry that would have lasted many decades.

Only by people still living in the 1970s. Russia is not a threat in a best on best. No more than Czech Republic, who have actually won in the last 30 years. Russia doesn't scare anyone.

Well, maybe we finally win it all this year. U20 gold, U18 gold, World Championships silver are something to definitely look at
