yeah, thats to prove my point that I'm not the only one who doesn't really care about this tournament.
Again, don't watch then.

And these fans watch the Minnesota Wild every year, this is a treat for them.

I've heard as many complaints about the international refs. Fans are never happy about the refs.

I dont care about the fans

Again, unless you enjoyed the Hell out of watching Japan play Switzerland, #5 says this can't both you either. The real tournament starts after the lower teams make it to the next round for the honor of finishing 7th and 8th.

no, but I sure did like watching Belarus beat Sweden.

Basically, only because of the ice size according to the rest of the post.

no

I think its all gravy for us from now on...many including myself didnt see them winning this one tonight...they did, they march on...I'm happy but I would be lying if I said I wasnt surprised.
This is my sentiment as well. All gravy from here on out. If they win another game, fantastic, then if another, same thing. Just getting past a Russian team that I did not expect them to beat is a respectable showing. The Americans aren't the ones prepared to commit seppuku if they fail to bring back the title.

You never back your points up with anything. When people ask for an explanation you just leave.

well I don't have all day here, plus I don't really care about anyone. If they think I suck, whatever.

Gomez, Drury, and Blake were threats all night in the game against Slovakia and hands down the teams best line. I wouldn't say not much. We haven't even seen the best from Langenbrunner, Weight, and others as well.

I thought Weight was excellent in spurts too, and against Team Canada. Two of his passes came within an inch of tying that game up.

I think the U.S. is just fine on offense from top-to-bottom. It just happens the Russians had no match for that top line tonight.

Hey, I hate seeing our team lose, but guys, half of our players wern't playing. The team's young and very talanted, let them gain some experience and we'll see what happends in a couple of years.

Can somebody explain me why Markov wasn't playing tonight? He's the best defenceman on our team at this tournament, and one of 3 best in Russia. Can anybody explain me what Khavanov was doing on PP, what was KASPARAITIS doing on PP? I mean Bilyaledtinov made mistakes, lots if you ask me.

Why didn't he keep the Yashin-Kovalchuk connection from the world cchamps? Why didn't he play Ovechkin more, was Afinogenov better than Ovechkin? No, Maxim spoiled every chance Kovalchuk and Datsyuk created. Why did he keep Kozlov on the first line, Kozlov was so bad through out the tournament...

Anyways, I think the team didn't seem bad at all... replace Kozlov by Fedorov, Khavanov, by Malakhov, Chubarov by Zhamnov, etc, etc.

Right now & for the rest of my life

I'm gonna hate DARIUS KASPARAITIS, is he -96 for the tournament ? GOD IT WAS AWFUL !!!!

I also don't want to hear about Sergei Gonchar. Mr. 60 pts who cost 150 goal for his team. I don't care if you were SUPER on 1 goal we did if you make 10 errors per game that would cost 2-3 goals.

Also WHAT ABOUT THE OBSESSION with Alexander Frolov, GOD, he look like Samuel Pahlsson & Jan Bulis. GREAT TALENT , NO FINISH !!!

My LOVE for the RUSSIAN TEAM is that WAY. LOVE IT OR HATE IT !!!

I agree on you about kasparitis, but gonchar played okay the one who u should blame is KALININ!! where is MARKOV WTF?

And Frolov played fantastic, no finish ? you are crazy this kid is going to be awsome.

"Whatever" sums up just about every sentence you have ever written on these boards. Keep up the good work; as far as i'm concerned you do not post enough . I enjoy your lack of insight tremendously.

Damn Tkachuk! Until US goal #5 this could have been OT. For my fellow Russian fans - Tikhonov conspiracy or nyet? :snide:

Good game but I hate to see Russia lose.

What's with all the empty seats in the State of Hockey?

Coupla things on this:

1) The games start too freakin' early! Especially after a long holiday weekend, most people can't get out of work and get to the arena before the puck drops. Who planned this? Is it some concession to the Eastern timezone folks? Were they worried we'd go past Chelios' and Hull's bedtime? Start at 7 and the place will be much more full when the puck drops.

2) For some weird reason, this tournament has gotten near zero media coverage or marketing leading up to it. I bet 3/4 of the people in the area don't even know it's taking place. I don't even know if local sports media has highlights. It's almost as if they didn't want to have too many people going.

3) Don't let that "State of Hockey" thing fool you. When it comes to amateur hockey everyone's a fan. When it comes to professional sports it's a different story. Granted, there's still far more fans than seats, so it is a little strange that the games aren't sold out. I've been hearing weird stories about fans trying to buy tickets and having a hard time, though, so I think there's something funny going on.

4) I had a heck of a time, so  to all those fans who decided they didn't want to go. ;)

I hope they sell out Xcel and rock the joint...looking forward to Thursday.

Sadly, I don't think that is possible. I think it was the round robin game against Russia where this was the scene:

Guy who is about to sing the American national athem: "Let me hear you! O-ooh say can you SEEEEE..."

*silence* <---- (unless the speakers on my tv really really suck)...

*American fans looking at each other; Russian fans just standing there*...

...

...

...

"and the HOOOOME

OF theeee...
" *a couple of a American fans join in*

"braaaaaaave."

:lol

If only they could get up for an international game like they would for a Wild playoff game. It makes it so much more entertaining when the fans are cheering their asses of. :(

I still maintain this tournament would mean a lot more if it wasn't completely biased towards Canada and the USA. The Americans finish 3rd and get rewarded with a home game?

I could have **** a better format out my ass. Whoever designed this thing was a Pejorative Slur.

No, it makes logistical sense. Team Russia is in the North American group. There is no way that both teams could go back to Russia for the quarterfinal game, then the winner come back to North America to play a semi-final game just 3 days later. The players would be burnt out.

The Europeans could get together and hold a similar tournament during this time of year if they want. Nothing is stopping them.

Blame Toyota, the NHL, the NHLPA and their exorbitant ticket prices.

it was actually a road game for team usa in st. paul if that makes any sense. Russia wore dark jerseys and had last change.

Curtis Enis designed the tourney but forgot to ask for your input. The tourney is what it is, an opportunity for players to represent their country on a big stage and perhaps an audition for the Olympics. I am paying these high ticket prices because i would rather spend 200 dollars on this than 150 on Toronto and Anaheim. I am a fan of international hockey wherever it is played. It would be nice if the tourney could be rotated so that every second event is co-hosted here and two of the six in Europe co-host.

Woo hoo..........Great game for the USA.......however, I really like the Russians too so it kind of sucked that they lost.........but what the hey........Looks like another Canada USA final to be sure..........

Great hockey all around!!

no sh!t...

f'n a, man, so khavanov gets cross-checking minor but before that he got checked pretty hard himself.

also, freaking offsides...

not to brag, but till leetch's double-minor i thought the refs were pulling yanks
by their ears in terms of calls.

Me too! This happens all the ****ing time. I sometimes hate being a Russian fan. :banghead:

ah... screw it. russians could've won it. gonchar disappointed me BIG time tonite.
so did kalinin, just losing puck all the time, and kasparaitis looked much better today by not taking dumb penalties (one wasn't that much of his fault).

anyway, GO CANADA GO!!!

I'm waiting for FINLAND vs USA game, boy Suomi can cream lucky americans :joker:
