World Cup of hockey 2024, will it happen?

I may be in the minority here but even if Russia is still occupying parts of Ukraine in 2024 I hope the Russian players can still participate. The World Cup in an NHL tournament. Not an IIHF one.

Good luck convincing the Finnish and Swedish hockey federations and players to participate then.

I think that the IIHF and the various national federations will move on and bring Russia back sooner than some people think. I certainly don't think that the NHL will have much of an appetite for keeping Russia out if sanctions are being lifted by 2024.

That is incorrect, while the NHL may have a leading role it's a joint NHL, NHLPA, and IIHF tournament.
