They shouldnt be awarded a WC because they dont have enough citizens? Seems trival what is deemed a cut off? There are greater reasons why they shouldnt hold it.

Yes, I entirely agree. There are obviously greater reasons why they shouldn't have held it.

What point are you trying to make exactly? You're the one who brought up their population numbers. Not me.

This group is playing out exactly as it was always going to play out, the rubber match between Senegal and Ecuador will decide second place. And Ecuador will probably win it because African sides always break your heart in these types of tournament.

It’s only 3-0 who cares
Finally Qatar get a goal.
Can they tie it?

You’re taking like Ecuador is going to lose to Holand lol

Well, for one, they managed to score a goal which the 1986 Canadian team failed to do.

Just because you don't like the regime or the FIFA corruption that led to the award of the Cup doesn't mean you have to turn your brain off when watching the actual matches.
On the other hand, Canada only gave up one goal to 3rd Place France

And I think we hit a post or something IIRC.

LOL, interesting.

After soaking up the French pressure, Canada launched its own attack. They pinned France back in its half of the field and came close to scoring on several occasions. To this day, Canadian soccer fans still talk about how Ian Bridge hit the goal post with a header that could have given Canada a shocking lead.

But according to Lenarduzzi, Bridge's header didn't even glance the post.

"Ian headed it and from the television angle it looked like it hit the post, but it actually hit the field board behind the goal. It really looked deceiving because when we came back everybody said we hit the post, and we didn't."

I guess my 8 year old self was wrong. A myth cleared up almost 40 years later.

I was -6 in 1986. I said it was the worst team that I've ever seen.

Just because you don't like the comment/poster doesn't mean you have to turn your brain off when you read.

I know United were very close to signing him. It was the same reasons as Timber why they didn’t/couldn’t get the deal over the line. LvG being petty.
He's the better of the two (potential wise) but tbh the way United acted and Ten hag glad he didnt go.
