Both teams, simply incredible. You can't point at any one player on that ice that didn't give their whole heart and soul in this game. Its a beautiful game when there are only heroes and no goats, and this is a prime example. Full respect to the Finns. Thornton, Doan, and Draper did an amazing job on the Koivu, Selanne, Lehtinen line, as well as putting a few in themselves. However, the Koivu line still played very impressively, proving to be dangerous on numerous occasions, and providing a fierce forecheck. Ruutu...incredible. Jokinen did his job at both ends. The entire Finn squad played incredibly. Team
Canada...they again do us so proud. Shane Doan. My god, what a player.

I said to friends on paper that Team Canada had one of the best teams I'd seen. Congrats to the Finns for proving to be an incredible force, and playing every inch as well. I'm just beside myself. My two favorite hockey nations put on a fantastic display of the TEAM game. If thats the last game we see for a while, well at least it was a hell of a send-off.

Team Canada! Wooo!!!!

:handclap: for both teams. The top 2 hockey nations. Hockey is king in both of these nations. I think we were treated to the best World Cup final possible.

Congratulations Canada.
If I am not mistaken I had the Czechs pegged as the winner of the tourney at an early stage. Can't say I am surprised with Canada winning it though, and much deservingly so.

Congratulations Finland.
Excellent performances all tournament long (well, with the exception of the QF perhaps ;)). I do think Selänne was brutal at times, especially in this last game, but I was pleasantly surprised by Mikko Koivu, TR and many more. As I see it the strength and depth of the Finnish national team will only improve the next couple of years and the future has never been brighter.

Hope the Laff fans enjoyed Mario and the boys skating around the rink with a trophy because they will never see the cup making the rounds there. Man whoever scheduled the tourney final in TO made a huge mistake... it was like a morque for most of the night

GO CANADA

Congrats

Man, lighten up. :shakehead

I really hope Selänne gets his knees or whatever's been bothering him, properly checked and fixed. I still think he's got a few years left in him.

All-Star team:
Vinny-Saku-Modin
Timonen-Foote(?)
Brodeur

How the hell could Modin end up there. Even if he put up some numbers no swedish players deserve to be there.

I've seen the future of northern european hockey and his name is Tuomo Ruutu. Man you Finns will have a scary team in a few years time while team Sweden will fight it out with Switzerland, Latvia and Austria.. Maybe time to move to Helsinki and start practicing my finnish. Heippa, hyvää yötä! (Godnatt..)

I was kinda hoping Thornton would get the MVP.. Not saying he necessarily deserved it, but still.

Man the Tampa boys really cleaned up this year - Art Ross, Hart, Conn Smythe, Stanley Cup, World Cup, World Cup MVP, the list goes on.. What an incredible last few months for Vincent, Brad and Martin eh?

Even though I had seen the trophy before...it was still kind of depressing seeing them bring out that glorified vase and then skate around with it. They wouldv'e been better off buying one of those generic hockey trophies that's used for Peewee tournaments.

Because he played great and led the tourney in points despite playing fewer games, that's how.

A pretty evenly played game with some (for me) surprisingly fierce checking by the Finns who could easily have won this game.

Canada won but Finland hardly lost. Shame that one-goal margin was on such a soft second goal.

Amazing that all three Canuck goals were on their first shots of each period.

I'm ready for more hockey.

Camps open soon, right? :shakehead :shakehead

Apparently thats the plan. I think he played a decent game tonight, though his whole line was stymied tonight by the Thornton line's incredible performance. I think he proved in this tournament that he still has some good hockey in him. He played with a lot of fire tonight, but at times tried to do to much. Still, that line had a fantastic tournament. Teemu gets some surgery on the knee now, and should be just fine.

Great game by the Finns. Ruutu's goal was awesome. I can see why there are comparisons to Forsberg.

The Thornton-Doan-Draper line was dominating. Shutting down the best opposition line while scoring key goals. Kind of sucks this is the last hockey for a while. I'll probably be watching Making the Cut to try and make up for no hockey.

Congrats Canada!! We were good, but still you were better! :handclap:

 CANADA!!!

:handclap: SUOMI :handclap:

And the T.RUUTU's goal was AMAZING!!! :yo:

Our first line was definately our worst line tonight.. they were absolutely horrible at the defensive end :shakehead I'm very surprised to see Koivu on the all-star-team, he didn't reach his full potential (throughout the tournament), we saw the average-Saku not the ultimate hockey god-Saku we finns are used to see. Teemu... :shakehead I just hope he wasn't 100% fit 'cause that couldn't have been Teemu at his best...
On the bright side: Our 2nd line was very good especially Olli and Tuomo. Jarkko Ruutu was excellent! Also Väänänen was quite solid throughout the tournament, he has developed a lot in a few years (<---a positive surprise for me).

Congats to Canada (my favourite team after Finland of course :) )

To all the Finns here : keep your heads up... at least we finished higher than Sweden!
:)

Congratulations to Canada... :p:

We will meet you guys in the Turin 2006 final, 'til then

Thank you very much.

and I Agree! Man the Fins are an easy team to like. The next time the Canadians get knocked out of a tourney, I am pulling for the Fins. They are nothing but hard-working class.

Kudos to the Finish team and all the Finish people. You have a lot to be proud of and you definately made this Canadian very nervous.

We'll see you in Turin.

:yo:  :yo:

I nominate Gagne and Heatley for the all-useless tourney team.

Both are deserving.

Dude, everybody did their part, you can't have every individual scoring the big goal, the game is not about offence alone. They both played well and did what they had to do to help the team.

WAY TO GO, CANADA!!! :win:
:handclap:

Congratulations, Finland!!!
Your team played one "h" of a game for hockey supremacy, tonight, and thru-out the WCH.
Sure scared the **** out of me.
Be proud.
:handclap:
