Bouwmeester is pinching too much, even if he is a great skater.

And yeah, that was a heck of a pass by Thornton! :)

If that goal holds, Gretzky will be greatly vindicated for Doan.

What song is this they play in the break... "It's a good old hockey game, it's the best game they can play" or so...
It's called "The Hockey Song" by Stompin' Tom Connors (a canadian legend)

edit. "Good Ol' Hockey Game," as deandebean pointed out.

It's a song by Stompin' Tom: Good Ol' Hockey Game. It's a fixture in arenas these days. Gets tiresome after a while, though.

re

I want Canada to win, but I want the finns to tie it first, its been a while since ive seen someone clinch a championship in hockey in home ice in OT

It is a really great canadian hockey song. It's just that when you litterally live in minor hockey arenas like I do, it gets tiresome.

Good for Eloranta! I know I wouldn't be smiling after taking a hit like that.

Team Finland seems to accept this score and thus the game is over. You win. Congrats to Team Canada. You deserved it. I'm just happy that Team Finland fought and gave all they've got. :handclap:

It's not over yet. Saku never gives up!

What? No way! I want regulation. Besides, I don't think this event is as emotional (at least for me and my entourage) as the Olympics or the Canada Cups of past, when the Soviets were THE dominant force in hockey.

In fact, I wouldn't be that mad if Finland wins it. They're my 2nd favorite team just because of the fact that it's a small country (the population not even the size of Quebec), and it's producing amazing hockey players.

Besides, this is a very young canadian team, that needs to learn to lose, not only win. Wayne, Mario, and the others did that also. I regard this tournament as a great experience for them, nothing more. The real deal is the Olympics, IMHO.

To tell you the truth, I preferred the older version of a best of 3. It led to some bitter rivalries. This game is between 2 teams that don't dislike each other. Doesn't make for great excitement. At least, not at the level of 87 or 2002.

Watching the first line play tonight, I´m pretty sure that Saku gave up before the game started.

Congratulations Canada.

Now it`s fact: capital of Finland is still Loserville.

Finns should be ashamed of themselves. Especially Selänne. Can`t wait the next interview where Selänne cries how NHL-coaches don`t understand how good player he is and how much he needs more ice-time.

I´m back to sleep

Did the Americans give up when Germany bomber Pearl Harbour? I THINK NOT!

They might have, they might not have, considering that has never happened. But my guess is that they wouldn't. Very resilient and strong willed they are, among others.

A history expert, uh? Germany never bombed Pear Harbour.
And Hawaii wasn't part of America then. It was a Japanese attack against U.S. occupational forces.

But we get the point: If you stick your nose out and it gets punched, then punch back.
