Who are Sundin's wings? Alfie and who else?

Sweden 4 Germany 2-- Sundin, Zetterberg, Naslund, Lidstrom and Hecht, Goc

I think Modin will get the nod. If he don´t have a good game he could find himself on a fourthline or in the stands for the rest of the tournament. Both Sundin and Alfredsson needs someone who can push the defenders up ice to create space for them to build up speed in the neutralzone. Sundin is used to play with Mogilny in Toronto and Alfie get allot of open ice in Ottawa behind Hossa and co. Personally I would have loved to see Nylander on a line with Sundin and Alfredsson... Its not a situation we are used to see Nylander in Sweden but he is used to play the wing in Chicago, Washington and Boston. Renberg would also have been a good fit.

If Modin doesn´t get the chance PJ or A. Johansson are options...

It's either 6-0 Sweden or 3-2 Germany.
Agree. It´s either going to be a convincing win or a pathetic performance by Sweden. But I go with 5-1 to Sweden.

Personally I don´t mind if they lose a game or two in the groupstage as long as they win the quarterfinal, semifinal and the final...

Expressen (yeah, I know...) reports that the Swedish team will look like this today:

Modin Sundin Alfredsson
Näslund Zetterberg Forsberg
Axelsson Jönsson A. Johansson
Holmström Påhlsson Nilson

Lidström Johnson
Norström Ragnarsson
Tjärnqvist Öhlund

Salo
(Tellqvist)

No injuries reported, so the rest are healthy scratches.

The final battle for the golden generation. It's now or never for the Three Crowns.

Sad if the twins will have to sit. Especially in a game vs Germany, they have the perfect skills for beating a defensive-minded team as this is. I could understand if the were overlooked vs Canada or Finland, were we must have a lot of defensive players (although I don't like that either) but against Germany? Shame on you Hardy. :shakehead

I'm not surprised. Zetterberg has been the best player of "line 80" and as we all know Hardy rather has a defensive player that can skate well than a slow moving technical player.

True, but I thought the twins looked good in the pre-games. I have my doubts a line consisting of Nilson, Påhlsson and Holmström will do much vs a team like Germany. They will do more damage vs Finland and the Czechs, but not here.

4-1 win for Sweden. Somehow they seem to have Germany's number.

But nevertheless Germany is able to give the other teams fits if they don't bring their A-game, so hope for an upset somewhere down the road.

Still doesn't matter. Since all teams make the playoffs this is really just another practice game. Why not test some things out?

Anyone know how Germany will form their lines?

Will we see a line with only stars, Marco Sturm - Marcel Goc - Jochen Hecht, or will the germans spread their quality?

My guess is that the stars will form two solid offensive lines, complemented with some of the better offensive players out of the DEL.
Of course, if the momentum swings to us we might form a panic line to better press for a goal.

They're showing this game live also here in Finland.
Can't wait to see it because Sweden has so interesting lineup.

I've always admired players like Sundin and Forsberg because they are perfect players. They have it all. Skill, size, speed, shot... ALL. Hopefully these guys are at their best tonight.

And Sweden has interesting lines also. Can't wait to see their 1st and 2st line in
action. And there's also one of the greatest defence player in NHL, Lidström. :handclap:

I hope to see a fine game with great plays. Hopefully Globen has better ice than Hartwall arena last night. The ice ruined the game :(

It will be now!

At least if either Salo or Tellquist goes hot. With Sundin and Forsberg on probably their last mission together, scoring should be no problem.

Is there any source on the web for live streaming coverage (radio or video) of the Germany Sweden game? I am at work and can't watch the game on ESPN. :banghead:
