What an absolute shitshow.

I guess we won’t see performances in the stands like this one this year.

If anything, it is being averted by not letting the England fans near the booze in a politically delicate situation.
But it is physically impossible from stopping them and many others from getting drunk and belligerent. Then all it takes is a few thousand international fans getting the Britney Greiner treatment to bring tensions to the breaking point.

Isn't the whole purpose of a sportswashing event like this to raise Qatar's profile, to show the whole world "Eh, look! We aren't so bad after all, huh?"

I mean, they're doing a really, really bad job at it, aren't they? It's like they're putting a spotlight on everything that's wrong with this abomination of a World Cup. Total trainwreck.

I mean they have FIFA bowing down to them. That's really what it's all about.

They want people to bow down to them and show that their money can make anything a reality. Now they'll never admit any of that but it's what it comes down to. Having an event like this gives them legitimacy. It's quite similar to the Olympics in the 30's and recently the Olympics and WC in Russia.

Now in today's day in age the every day person can see through it for what it is but they're still going to try.

Yeah, now that you say it, I can see that. Makes sense through a geopolitical lens. To give them legitimacy on the world stage. I hadn't thought about that angle.

Technically, it’s basically a gigantic pile of money that FIFA is bowing down to. Whatever is in possession of the gigantic pile of money is truly… truly irrelevant.

France didnt even need Benzema last time to win , how loaded they are. Though he is playing better now than he was at that time. I didnt realize Kante and Pogba are out, though their Real Madrid Pairing in midfield can work.
