Big Slafkovsky fan but am I the only one that thinks he looks fairly disengaged today, especially without the puck?

This Marko Anttila thing is getting comical. It dont matter how bad he plays, how slow he is or how clunky he looks, this fricking 2 meter tall gnome always scores when its elimination game and I dont know how. He could run for president in Finland.
I just read your post out loud to my friends.

Slaf getting rejected through the neutral zone twice looked a little silly. Very "Jack Year One" stuff.

Now that the USA game is 3-0, it's time for Nico to score and end his tournament on a high note.

Way off the beaten path, but given the Devils' pp woes and the glut of young forwards in the lineup why not give someone like Cervenka a one or two-year deal while the Holtzes and Footes start working their ways into the NHL?

I dont think Cervenka would cut it. He's 36. He's producing on international ice, but doubt he would be any good at his current age considering his first stint with CGY

Vatanen scored against USA. My friends are asking why isnt he in the NHL. Do you guys want to open a live call to explain?

Lets go Finland!
In all fairness, theres probably worse players in NHL than him. He got one-way offers but nothing that excited him, per his words. I feel like at his age, European and familyman, you'd rather get stability of playing in NLA than possibly being a trade chip/waiver wire like his last season in NA.

Finland is the most predictable team in the history of hockey. It doesn't matter what group of Fins is playing or where. It's always the exact same game.

Because they are damn good at what they do. They have an identity and they play to it every single time.

That’s why they win.

Yep.

Maybe one day, the Devils will have such an identity.

BTW, here are the final stats :

I myself find Finland quite boring. During his second stint Jalonen has brought in the most discipline and systemality to our game than anyone ever has and he's a legend here as he should be.

But knowing exactly how were gonna play, how everyone has to buy in to the defensive system and play the same way no matter if youre a Liiga player or NHL star, feels boring to me. Even with all the success. I dont know if I feel too spoiled, since I definitely got used to us never winning anything and always failing when it mattered.

The same thing when picking the roster. Its not really interesting anymore cause he has his group of players who know his system and who he trusts. Following who makes the Worlds squad was often just as interesting as watching the tournament itself. Nowadays you know theres the same 10, 15, 20 players who are trusted with the rare newcomers or NHLers.

And if youre winning then why would you switch things up? Kudos to Jalonen and Finland. To me watching Finland has kinda lost its entertainment value that I seek from sports. Winning is nice but I get nothing out of it. Finnish national team, just like the top teams in Liiga have kinda entered this "dead puck era" cause its effective. It has shifted me further away from local hockey which is quite sad.

But if NJD played boring hockey and won games and playoff series, then I would be all for it. So maybe I am spoiled? I dont know..
