Lol. Gazdic with a good line that teams should be able to adjust defensive system game to game. That it shouldn't be some big deal that we announced changing from man on man to zone after Vegas embarrassed us. 100% true IMO. Woody is not the only problem, but how Vegas was able to expose our "system" to a point they could even comment on it in interviews and then just expose it some more was insane and shook my confidence that woody is much more than a cheerleader type of coach.

I agree that his play's been shit, along with everyone else's play. The issue is that a true fan of a player doesn't call him a "f***ing loser." That's a fairweather fan. A true fan sticks by his players. Yes, you can admit a player you follow has played poorly. But you go a bit too far.

And speaking of waiting to pounce, you wait for the slightest error from Draisaitl to pounce on his play. Some fan.

Takes time to adjust for all involved, players and coaches, that these assholes can't afford to lose but frankly the season is pretty much lost already anyways. So either you tide them over with a somewhat familiar face and then clean house in off season or you do it now and... I dunno, tank it even worse? Because I don't see how a coach now is going to change things with zero time to work on things with both players and the systems play. Never mind the 'I don't give a shit' metre on most of them.

I’m not only blaming McDavid and Draisaitl, just making a point that they’ve been poor by their standards. The rest of the group has been dogwater too, but the 2 main guys are supposed to set the tone. I don’t care what they’ve done the last 5+ years offensively - it’s phenomenal, but it doesn’t help us now. More than anything, I’m frustrated that these 2 seem to have a bag of tricks offensively that aren’t working, but they keep insisting on trying to force. Perimeter passing that ends in a blocked point shot and cross-seam passes to Draisaitl that the other team is looking for is all they’ve got right now.

He “addressed” goaltending for this year and last and the next 3 when he signed Campbell. He addressed defence when we went all in and got Ekholm.

He doesn’t do “nothing”. He does stuff, he does stuff literally everytime the Oilers fanbase starts screaming at him to do stuff. The issue is, his old and tired self can’t execute these moves well. He kinda just gets it done and doesnt worry about getting it done well.

The NHL is simply not the 80s anymore, you can't have stability as a franchise with no defense, no work ethic, no goaltending.

You have to be able to grind wins out, play some D, get some saves. If you can't do that through trades, fine, bring in the coach who is best suited to those things.
