I agree, I’d trade Samsonov and bring up Jones at the deadline to clear cap room.

It is a pretty soft spot to get Sammy back in the net. End of the day we are a better team if we get Samsonov on his game and don't need to burn out Woll. We shouldn't need to ride Woll to the point Samsonov only plays B2B.
 
Anyone else see the Woll to Price comparisons in style during the intermission. Not trying to sound overly excited, but Toronto may have a legit goaltender on their hands.

They tried to show a highlight reel of Woll on the Dallas broadcast post-game and there were barely any big time saves in there. Woll is a nightmare for sportsnet, he could win the Calder and Vezina with 50 shutouts and 99% of his highlight reel would be him calmly in position absorbing shots or deflecting them into the corner.

I can think of two things wrong actually: Samsonov has been really bad and Woll has been really good. I don't think Samsonov should be back in the net until a back-to-back situation or until Woll has a bad game.
 
J Woll 4 - Dallas 1.
*Rielly is off to a really nice start to the season. Surprisingly, his play with Klingberg tonight was a pleasant surprise as I thought the two of them controlled the D zone effectively, clearing pucks quickly.
*Liljegren and Klingberg are the other two Dmen who are capable of skating a long shift when needed. Brodie and Gio are starting to show their legs are lacking when the puck is hemmed in the Leafs zone for any length of time.
*The 2nd period was not good. You had to expect the Stars to come out fighting hard and we showed no inclination to compete. That's on the players, they need to show up.
*I might be in favor of Domi centering the 3rd line with Knies and Jarnkrok. Not ideal, but we need something more threatening than Kamph or Holmberg. It will be interesting to see if Minten is brought back in or sent down. I'd give him another game or two to see if he's learned anything from the press box.
*If Reaves isn't going to hammer somebody on the other team what is the point?
*Good to see Mitch score, I expect more from Matthews in the compete department. For some reason I find AM to become less effective when going up against big D.
*There's something off with Bert, but I think him, Tavares and Willy can be an effective unit.

*This kid Woll's movement from post to post is so composed. Color me impressed. Too early to say he's the real deal - imo - cause goalies goal and I ain't no expert, but he certainly has been impressive.

The save in the first was the only real big save I can think of.

He is just so sound in the net.

Keep in mind that Nashville will be a sleepy one for Samsonov. It will be a good game for him to find his rhythm again because Nashville is not a good team. Toronto will win that without much effort.

Might be analytics. Era of the workhorse goalie is over. Even the best rarely start much more than 50 games a season these days. Samsonov will get a lot of starts regardless.
