What the heck does Gilroy have to do with Gostisbehere??

And Brady Skjei is a full year younger then Gostisbehere.

Gostisbehere has skill. But no clue how to use it without being a liability. Skjei has skill but the difference is he won't abandon his responsibilities or leave his goaltender hanging in order to pinch or rush the puck into the corner. So he won't rack up points.

Carolina got a kid in the ECAC by the name of Danny Biega who is going to be a great player in this league. The Canucks got Ben Hutton whose stock is rising.

You sure that Biega is going to be a NHLer?

Because I've seen him and both of his brothers play the game, also. I also thought that the other two brothers would be NHLers. The entire family has busted so far outside of Danny. Michael is, I believe, retired. Alex is toiling in the AHL and not looking great. And Danny has been the best of them but it's not really looking like he's a sure-fire NHLer, either.

Alex and Michael were two of my biggest wrong predictions, so I am hesitant on Danny as well.

I don't understand why every is freaking out. Russia is a good team and the US played well, they just couldn't score. Miller played a much better game, but judging by the WJC page of this website, he has already cemented himself as the whipping boy when he was likely USA's best forward. Galchenyuk was a no show tonight. I love Grimaldi's hustle and skill, but it was him who was trying to do too much on that line tonight; he wasn't passing. Gaudreau has looked pretty pedestrian overall, maybe time to switch up that line. Lucia and Biggs couldn't have been more invisible. Overall I'm not worried, and Miller played better.

More upset that they cut Matteau and didn't even invite Samuelsson.

Lol, have you ever seen Samuelsson skate? It's big ice, and he is one of the worst skaters I've ever seen. Where would he have played, he can't PK, hustle or defend like any of our bottom six, and he's not nearly skilled enough for the top 6. The US doesn't need any more grit. Matteau's skating is what kept him off the squad as well.

Naming McCabe captain.

Agree with your other points (especially Noesen, Kerdiles should have gotten an invite), but not sure I see the problem here. McCabe is a very calm presence on the back end and he likely has good leadership qualities. Obviously I would have loved Miller has captain, but Game 1 especially he didn't play like one. Getting an A is impressive anyway.

And Seth Jones wasn't pretty today, but he was a hell of a lot better then yesterday. I'd like to see Sieloff get a little more ice time for his physicality, even though as a Calgary fan I'd be a little scared and how poor his hockey sense is. Great skater, reminds me of Brooks Orpik, but he was a chicken with his head cut off on the PK.

All I will say RE the WJC page is...it's unbelievable

Miller set up a perfect QB pass to Gadreau, but he messed up the breakaway.

Looks like Canada is in shape, I'm gonna sleep at the conclusion of the 1st.

Oof, bad period for team USA there. JT Miller could've done a better job closing out Nugent-Hopkins on the first goal. The defense in general looks in a disarray.

First goal Miller should have taken away time and space instead of just going for the block. RNH finishes that all day with that time.

Second goal was just an abysmal shift from Jones. Turnover, Canada grinds, and then he becomes a cone on the doorstep losing the puck battle with Strome.

Malcolm Subban making this current shutout look easy. No traffic at all, he's seen every shot.

John Gibson is the only reason this is only 2-0.

PP for the USA coming up, let's make it interesting boys

Refs taking the game over. I didn't see the McCabe penalty because I was in the bathroom, but even some Canadians on the main board saying it wasn't worthy of 10. The Hartman hit was clear hit to the head, but the Trouba penalty as well to make it a full 2 minute 5 on 3? WTF was that?

EDIT - Come on Jones are you serious with that shot? 15 seconds left, and you fire one wide far-side on a 6 on 4 clearing the zone for Canada?

Unbelievable. Feel for Gibson right now.

These refs were a total joke. Typical IIHF officiating and typical Canada. It looked like we were playing a team of Crosby's.

Fun game
USA screwed up with discipline in the 3rd limiting their time to tie it up
Got a bit nasty
I thought USA - Canada overall was an even contest albeit the 1st. Same as vs Russia
Would not be surprised to see different results in an eventual later matchup
I think as of now ranking is:

  1. Russia
  2. Canada
  3. Sweden
  4. Finland/USA
6/7 Switzerland/Czech

...the rest

But that might change in a hurry

Do not agree
The calls have been consistent
Soft yes - but consistent
US took some bad calls there
Had this game been with NA rules we would have seen a brawl there at the end
I would not mind that...

I'd rather see no calls at all than what we saw at the end. I don't think I've ever been this frustrated over an international game.
