Yeah maybe like 20 years ago, i rather see a Canada/US final.

To each his own I guess. I'm of course rooting for the Russians (as I always do when Sweden and Finland are knocked out..) :)

I hope that the Olympics are attended by a better class of fans then the Pejorative Slurs at GM Place over this tourney........shame on them.....

I hope so too, I love the Olympics. It really ruins the tournament for me. I just want to enjoy a freaking hockey game, but instead had it ruined by idiots in that arena. :shakehead

This is exactly what I have been saying.......outside of Vancouver and Quebec, most Canadian fans are classy and good sports............Have the tourney here in Alberta and the U.S. will be the 2nd fav team in every game...

Not necessarily true. Last World Juniors in Alberta, the US was certainly not a favorite, and Russia was the fan favorite over the US. Ditto for the Under 17s the following year.

Why are American people talking about the "Miracle on Ice", and using it as a dig towards Canadians?

It isn't a dig, because Canada doesn't need to rely on miracles to win hockey tournaments. Canada wins hockey tournaments because they are supposed, not because of some fluke.

So bringing up the "Miracle on Ice" isn't insulting at all to Canadians. The only ones Americans insult are themsevles.

Sorry, but didn't you go, like, 50 years without winning a Gold Medal in hockey in the Olympics?

To ensure that we will have to ban Albertans from crossing the border.

Well seeing how the lowest paid mlb player is probably making more than the top paid NHL player, ill have to disagree..
hahaha are you serious...you think because they get paid more that it makes it a legit sport..you're sad! Baseball is not a sport and you know it..it's nothing more than a recreational activity.

Is that why steve nash won MVP last season over shaq?
One Canadian MVP vs how many American MVP's?(I like Nash by the way)

"We" should be cheering for Russia because "our" number-one rivals are the United States; therefore, ABUSA.

Screw that, it would have been sweeter to beat them ourselves and win gold while limiting the Russians to Bronze. I can't stand the way the Russians act when they win or lose, USA plays more of a Canadian game and that's why I wanted them to win.

Wouldn't you rather see Canada win than the crowd lose?

Usually, and maybe after I cool down, but that was just weak. If they keep this up in vancouver, then they'll be listed as being on George Bush's "Axis of Evil list"!!! :biglaugh: ;) :sarcasm: Bring 'em home from Iraq, we've got a closer threat!!! And they're hiding WMD in their hockey rinks!!! :sarcasm: :D :sarcasm:

That's the last time you'll see Vancouver host a WJC for decades..

Yeah I'm sure they'll just hate to give the tournament back to the city that's shattered all the WJC attendence records by a wide margin. All the games were well-attended, even those between weak teams. It probably won't be back for a while just in the interests of spreading the tournament around, bet rest assured that this has been the most successful WJC in history and no amount of sour-grapes whining from disgruntled fans about the 'class' of a small group of people out of 19,000 is going to change that. :)

Anyways, in the meantime I guess we'll just have to settle the 2007 Memorial cup, NHL draft and 2010 Olympics. :( Too bad.

Do you not think that people should be allowed to fight like dogs?

Locking the thread interferes with peoples democratic freedom and liberty.

Well, in some ways it's entertaining, but I can see it spilling over to other boards and creating a general uncooperative feeling on the board, which could/will drag down the level of intelligent debate (hahaha) on the board in general.

I'm amazed American fans are more concerned with the arena fans, who incidentally, aren't allowed on the ice, than the actual performance of their players.

I guess it's one way to avoid talking about it.

Incidentally, I was pulling for the U.S. because I think we match up better against them, but whatever.

Sorry, but dont you have, like, only 1 gold medal is the history of the WJC?

That said, the Canadians had damn well better be ready for a class-less Russian team to match the Vancouver class-less fans IMO.

Why so :dunno: ?? I mean Malkin is an idiot, but that was accidental from what I saw. Didn't Americans go wild as much as Russia? Plus there was no need to hold down the keeper... That was the catalyst ...

Before it's closed;

Good luck to Canada, props on getting to the Gold Medal round, that's quite an accomplishment, considering no one thought you'd be there. Hope you can beat these cocky Russians.

Thanks, and good luck to the USA as well. :)

Ah, but Olympic tournaments pre-1998 basically mean nothing.

Canada would have probably won the Olympic tournament almost every year from 1972-1994 if they had of been allowed to use their best players.

U.S.A. surely wouldn't have beaten Canada in 1980 if they had of played against Canada's best (no way U.S.A. beats both Canada and U.S.S.R. in that tournament; one of these teams would have pounded them).

They're probably from "east-van". That's like the workers for the working class. They have trouble tying their shoes much less knowing what to cheer for.
But yet, they can afford tickets to a hockey game. Well said.

May Cory Schneider refuse to play for such a disgustingly anti-American city like Vancouver and win consecutive Cups in a cold-forsaken city like.... Pheonix.

With Gretzky behind the bench. Sweet.

As Canucks fan I agre with you, Vancouver has been an embarrasment. I would not fault the kid for not wanting to play for these morons. :(

*For Hockey the best thing would have been for USA to win and have another USA-Canada final
I'm sick of what's "best for hockey".. I could care less if the US ever likes the game. They have proven en-masse they don't care and the NHL has been trying to cater to them for years without success. Time to end the experiment and focus on places that actually enjoy the sport.

*For Canada beating the USA in the final would have been sweeter than beating the Russians
1972.. 1987. It's just a classic rivalry. Remember Bure giving the Canadian team the finger? or Kovalchuck taunting? Beating Russia is sweet, losing to them sucks. It's a true rivalry.

*For Edmonton Robbie Schremp lighting it up and leading his team to the finals would have been the best (He was a non factor in this tournament so far, and a huge disapointment)
Are you surprised. The kid can do it in junior, but I wonder about the real thing at a world class level.. i.e. the NHL.

That was a disgrace in Vancouver cheering for the Russians like that, wonder what Cherry thought about that?
If you actually care what Don Cherry thinks, then I have wasted my time responding to you.
